WANTED: Your Community Team Slayer Variants

Do you think you have a map that matchmaking needs? Does it support Team Slayer? Come on down!

Your map needs to satisfy this checklist (or else it will be passed over and instantly rejected)

  • An INITIAL SPAWN CAMERA. At least one neutral one that shows your map.
  • INITIAL SPAWN for all supported teams. In this case, Red and Blue.
  • RESPAWN POINTS, which are critical for the map to work
  • TWO PLAYER LOCAL SPLIT support. This means no strobing/"disco"ing and a steady framerate when someone plays with 2 players on one Xbox.
  • WEAPONS ON THE MAP are also needed.
  • 4v4 is the target team size
  • A single TEST FILM for each game type you are submitting your map for. Show me that you’ve actually had real people play your map

These are optional, but are considerable bonus points

  • Support for CTF, Bomb, and Oddball

Special Notes

Any pickup AAs and powerups on the map will be deleted anyway IF it makes it into matchmaking. If your map needs these or a custom gametype to work, don’t bother submitting it.

Maps can be for any map in Halo: Reach. Forge World has the highest chance of being selected, but you can select any disc map or DLC map to work off of, as long as it meets that 2-split bar.

How to submit your map

Make a single reply to this thread with the template in post 2. Following the template will keep things speedy and concise. If you do not feel comfortable posting in this thread, you may PM me your submission (But don’t expect a reply unless I or another Cartographer need further input from you). If you update your map, edit your existing post and send me a PM. Do not make another reply. Do not comment on other people’s maps in this thread. Just submissions are wanted.

Disclaimer

While maps in here may be looked at for submission to 343 for matchmaking, and in fact can be submitted, there is zero guarantee that just because a map is posted in here, or that a map is submitted, that it will end up in matchmaking. 343 reserves final discretion on which maps they will look at and put into matchmaking.

Target Playlists

Submitted maps will be considered for Team Slayer, Super Slayer, and The Arena. Pretty much a map made for one will work for the others, so I’m not distinguishing between them for submission purposes.

He isn’t. The Cartographers collaborate together, don’t treat them as seperate representatives. FyreWulff has every right to ask for Community submissions.

Submissions only, please. BP is not and should not be the only way to hand CCs maps.

He is looking for a diamond in the rough. Someone here may have a fantastic map but is not aware of the proper channels to promote it. Besides, 343i’s home turf should not be overlooked.

i know BP isn’t the only way, i PM’d godly perfection over parasitic before i even posted it but BP does appear to be the main hub for MM …

I was going to suggest Majesty for this - Nokyard, you helped on this one - don’t suppose you have any of the gameplay films left do you? None of my pals play Reach anymore :frowning:

I had my moment of inspiration, (admittedly several months ago now) despite writing the Quarry on Forgeworld off as too ‘boring’. I’ve tried to create a unique 4 v 4 map, built for Slayer and Objective.

It’s a very simple design, with a risk/reward setup for Power Weapons - some good lines of sight, and it should make for some close games.

There’s plenty of GOOD community maps that haven’t been even mentioned for consideration in MM.

Shipwreck.
Cold Snap.
Retroactive.

Would this have to be a 100% original map forged within a bigger map (Forge World, Tempest, Timberland, Headlong, or Hang Em), or can it be a modification of an existing map (i.e. blocking off certain parts of the map or stuff like that)?

I ask because I made a version of Anchor 9 that has space blocked, and an additional travel option from each base to observation deck to compensate. I feel something like this should have at least been introduced into arena already, given that space combat is purely a goofing-off thing and has no place in any kind of serious play.

I don’t have anything that meets the qualifications, but can I request that you guys try to find more maps on DLC? Or even default maps that aren’t Forge World. I know FW gives you the most flexibility, but it’s still more than possible to forge awesome maps elsewhere, and the MM aesthetic is getting extremely bland and grey.

Again, none of these are appropriate for MM, but these are some examples. I’m a novice forger, so somebody with more experience might be able to make something out of them, but I’ve done the best I can.

Description:
Compound is based upon The Pit from Halo 3, with a layout similar to Colossus and Derelict. The two bases are situated at the back of the map, next to each other. The bases are separated by a wall. While the map is not as separated as the Pit was, some of the weapons and corridors will seem familiar. The map supports 4v4 play, but also supports 2v2 and 1v1 gametypes quite well, along with Free-For-All games.

Supported gametypes include Oddball, King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, Speedpile, Stockpile, and 3-plot Territories, and the obvious Slayer.
