Wanted mini bunkers, more defenses and new leader.

I would like to see some game update like having mini bunkers around bases. Instead of 4 defenses, have them able to be garrison with infantry. Have mini bunkers to drop anywhere on the map for all leader. Have a leader that can take over enemy building and build their tech would be fun.

Having more garrisons on the maps would be great. I’d love for the game to move towards a more strategic focus on vision and defending vital routes. At the moment it’s pretty barren in comparison to halo wars 1. The maps in halo wars 1 had shield barriers you garrisoned to keep active and other garrisons around other spots. Also the garrison positions in halo wars 2 are really weird. Some maps have 2 garrisons outside the base in the middle, while not having any anywhere near the other bases.

They abandonned the game

Bruh wdym they abandoned the game? They literally just released a balance patch. If anything its on hold till infinite comes out.

The “balance” patch was garbage and rarely addressed anything that matters.

Until 343 addresses the obvious issues, I will be abusing decimus and I hope everyone else does also.

There is actually very little strategy in halo wars 2. It’s based on mostly which gimmicks work and when to use them. The best strategy doesn’t always win since there are clear unbalances in the game and limited map architecture like garrisons, shields, etc. They even took away you having to kill enemy ai to get your expo bases.

While Halo Wars 2 has some good improvements, overall it’s a lot less fun the the first game. If the first game had a larger online player base and you could use mods online, I would only play halo wars 1.

It’s amazing how individuals can make more in depth mods than 343 can be bothered for a measly balance patch. Pathetic.

Honestly, biggest reason why I liked Sergeant Johnson (apart from big stompy robots) was the bunker drop ability, had so much fun using it on I think it was Sentry. Basically made my bases unassailable bunkers filled with two marines, a sniper, and a cyclops. Tried a few games without it and realised just how sparse some of the maps are.

Absolutely all of this. I often see people defend it as a deeply strategic game with lots of thought and design balance, but it literally has the bare minimum. It’s just a game of “ball all the units up and smash it against there ball, then build a bigger ball with more counter things”.

A lot of times though the counter things don’t work and when in doubt, just build a scarab and a couple engineers.

It really is an extremely brain dead game and if there were any other online RTS games you could play with a controller, I would probably barely ever play this game.
