Want to bring btb populations back? Fix the br

343,
I am honestly sad warzone assault is becoming rotational, as that was my bread. I had almost 5k games in it, more than even Nas. I feel like it could be brought back to life with an xp boost, but that’s not what I’m arguing for.

Please fix the br or make the loadout in btb the stabilized br. Everyone hates being a supersoldier with a squirt gun

Wza needs to be at least weekend rotational or give it the xp boost, the playlist was amazing before the last playslists were added, working even better than months before, it was recovering, but then it died suddenly one day to another, and in the BTB subject yeah it needs rebalancing the br.
Warzone assault being rotational it’s sad to me too, 7k games played (more if i count my games on my brother’s account), most of it on solo, so i know that the playlist was working great.

What burnt me on WZA was the spawn trapping. Game after game getting killed before I could take 2 steps forward. The BR is useless now, pistol rules. Then to add insult to injury the H2 BR was moved to level 5.

The standard BR is pretty much useless at range. Switching to one of the WZ variants in BTB would be perfect.

I would’ve been fine if 343 made the wza fireteam limit like 4 to prevent teams from farming. Wza was mostly solos

Yea after they let the full Fireteam again then it really increased the farming. I always played this solo and it was a blast. I think bringing it every weekend would be better than just once a month though

If you want to save BTB in the short term so it doesn’t go away, stop playing Super Fiesta BTB.

Considering the recent news about how significant amounts of players have left BTB in favor of Big Team Super Fiesta, I think bringing back its population will take more than just fixing the battle rifle. There are a number of reasons why BTB never did very well in Halo 5, even before they messed around with the battle rifle, and I think the success of Big Team Super Fiesta can give us some insight into what 343 should focus on if they decide to refresh BTB.

Like sure, fix the battle rifle, but I would say the reason people prefer the Super Fiesta version of BTB is mainly because you actually get to use fun weapons and vehicles. It seems to me like there weren’t as many of those in Halo 5’s BTB, compared to BTB in Halo Reach and 4 (and not just because those had BTB Heavies). Let’s take a look at an interesting statement that Josh/ZaedynFel made recently about BTB:

> I think it WAS a core part in the past, but it hasn’t been for the lifetime of H5. In H4, for example, it was where the bulk of the less tryhard folks went, resulting in a pretty active list of a long period of time.
>
> But in H5, that bulk of players moved on to Warzone at first, and now the Super Fiestas. Without that bulk, the non-competitive lists can’t really sustain themselves.

Essentially he’s saying casual players (i.e. most players) preferred BTB in earlier Halo games, but in Halo 5, they moved to Warzone and then Big Team Super Fiesta. I think we should think about why that is. If you wanted to use a heavy vehicle on a big open map in Halo 5, where do you go? Probably not a playlist where many of the vehicles are limited to a default Ghost+Warthog. Probably not a playlist where many of the maps center around CQC and you’ll use your loadout weapons 99% of the time because there are like, maybe two weapon pads on the whole map, that aren’t even req variants.

No, you’ll go to the playlist that has maps like Skirmish at Darkstar and Battle of Noctus. Even if Warzone doesn’t play anything like BTB, for a long time that was unfortunately the only place you could go in Halo 5 for a combination of big teams and an abundance of powerful weapons/vehicles. Big Team Super Fiesta changed that. So now that we have Big Team Super Fiesta eating up the population of BTB, how could 343 refresh BTB in a way that would bring its population back? In light of what I just said, I think the obvious solution would be adding BTB Heavies. Using Warzone maps with traditional BTB settings has even been suggested, which I think is a not bad idea.

Not only would Heavies add more much needed vehicle and power weapon play to BTB, but it would also make it easier to complete commendations. This is important because there are those people who choose the game mode they play based on how much it will help their commendation progress rather than how much fun it is (which I think is weird, but it happens), and right now they are probably choosing Big Team Super Fiesta over regular BTB for that reason.

And also, as you say, fix the battle rifle if it needs fixing. But I don’t think that will bring back BTB’s population on its own.

Yeah, but in BTSF I dont spawn with a useless toy gun.
I can actually get some work done most of the time.

Now, they promise me Big Team Heavies…

They keep driving this game into the ground. It’s so disappointing. One one hand, MCC is basically in a complete and functional state. It’s such a pleasure to play. On the other, they’ve totally wrecked everything about Halo 5.

One year ago, before that stupid update near the launch of the X, everything just gelled. It was 2 years on, all the content was there, the menus worked (albeit, just), and people were having fun (arguments of classic versus new aside). There were flaws, of course, but it was about as stable and finished as it was ever going to get. It almost seems like there just needs to be one current title that’s extremely mediocre.

It blows my mind how resistant they are to listening to Waypointers when we’re the ones who gave criticisms and drove the changes needed to fix MCC and so on. Data doesn’t bring in more players. It’s all been marketing on Xbox’s side with all they’ve been doing with Game Pass and their presence on Twitter. Even more reason for me to never touch this game again. It’s truly disappointing.

Yes, but you could potentially spawn a worse weapon than the BR for the entire game. I know that’s very unlikely. For a better gun, pick up the carbine instead.

The odds of you getting both loadout weapons worse than the BR are tiny. Out of the like 100 guns in SF, I would say only 7 or so are worse than the BR (2 lowest brute rifles, 2 lowest storm rifles, boltshot, plasma pistol, and base shotgun).

Well I wasn’t really being that serious, but it would be interesting to see the percentage.

I’ve done my fair share of work with the storms, the boltshot and shotgun. Of those only the Plasma pistol is worse and in that case I just run away or grab a vehicle if I can.
