flight is over and now maybe I’m starting to like this kind of armor style.but I still prefer Halo 4 or 5’s armor,at least those main characters armor.chief’s armor in infinite looks like CE or 2.I think art style stuff are kind of subjective things and anyway I’ll buy it (maybe with xgpu)and play.I really enjoyed last flight in fact.

Reach was certainly not garbage it has it’s flaws but it was most certainly not the decline of halo that honor goes to halo 4 as the multiplayer in that game was not that fun
Also imagine using the age of 18 to dismiss someone’s points and this is coming from someone who grew up with the series since 2
Also on the topic of art styles I hope they keep infinite’s direction of art style going forward as it’s taking the best from the classic games while also mixing in some modern

Reach’s multiplayer was garbage for a lot of people. It had the first and only beta I stopped playing because I was so disappointed. I skipped school for TWO days because it was delayed the first day. When the game release it was just as bad and literally all of my die hard Halo friends IRL stopped play it. They played competitively prior and wanted to keep perusing that until Reach.
Garbage is obviously subjective however it was absolutely the end of Halo being the King or even a pawn.

Oh agreed it had major issues for competitive also with it being the end but it wasn’t the beginning of the decline like I said the decline started with halo 4 because of how flood and custom games were also don’t get me started how multiplayer was

Reach was without a doubt the beginning of the decline. The active players dropped drastically within a short period of time for the first time ever. This isn’t subjective.
Maybe for the competitive scene but the way I seen it custom lobbies were as full as ever and if we went with the logic that reach was the beginning the decline wouldn’t combat evolved anniversary continue the decline because correct me if I’m wrong that game was certainly not a declining game sales and playerbase wise
Like if you want to get into the semantics of this you could say combat evolved anniversary was the beginning of the decline as you could consider it to be the last halo that had success before halo 4 and the decline started to actually happen
And this is coming from someone who disliked halo reach at first
Majority of fans including myself disagree with you greatly.

Do a poll
Halo deserves this revert to old art style, It always felt like the megablox version of lego in 4 and 5 for me. especially what they did to the elites
Very happy with this new change.

I’ll wait on your results from every single Halo fan. After all, it’s your claim to prove.

Do you disagree? I don’t need to convince myself, and if you want to convince yourself that Halo 5’s style is preferred, by all means DYOR. I’ve seen multiple polls on multiple platforms over years, and the classic art style has won out by a large margin every time. A segment of the population is enough to estimate the entire population, thats how surveys etc work.
I disagree in the scope that you have zero evidence to back up your claim that it’s a majority that prefer the “Classic Style”. Telling me to “do my own research” on the matter supports this. Surveys are also horribly inaccurate, especially for something like this. Poll in an echo chamber, and you’ll always get the result you want. And really, I think folk like you are the only ones who care to poll for this sort of nonsense, to try and lend validity to your claim that Halo should have stagnated in 2007.
Personally I hope there are Campaign armors, and we get the option to wear something more reminiscent of the MJOLNIR GEN2, if we so desire.
This is definitely a subjective thing. If you find something aesthetically pleasing may differ from what I like. Case being here, I do not wish to see the Artstyle from 4 and 5 to return, but it should also not completely vanish. Even though I found everything to be overdesigned and kinda ugly, it would bother me if it’s eradicated. 343 now needs to find a way to have both art styles populate the same universe, otherwise, it would be immersion breaking. Halo Wars 2 apparently found a way to do so well.

I don’t poll for it, I’ve just seen polls. Most of the time I don’t even vote in them. Making the game “shiny” does not make it more modern, it just makes it look cheap (in my opinion)
The Seeker helmet called…wanted to remind you how bad the H5 art style was, I said I’d let you know

> Infinite’s art style is…too classical and it doesn’t look like a 2021 game at all and there lots people exist that prefer the 343 time art style than bungie time one.Halo 5 multiplayer is my fav multiplayer in the series so when I got the test I’m a little disappointed
I do have to give 343 art style some points where they did do some good like with the rouge set where it looks perfect but the old bungie art style is what makes halo feel like the close but distant future while 343 makes halo out to be a game where science fiction goes to far and even the human guns look alien and from a different series altogether. Halo needs to stand out as it’s own now more than ever and with the older art style halo can once again differentiate its self from every other generic “space game”.
Halo 4 and 5’s art style had flaws. It lacked a few things, and the fact that so many people use classic helmets like the ODST helmet and the MK IV helmet made that clear.
Clarity, simplicity, and personality
Clarity: Reclaimer era armor is made of small, rounded shapes and the colored under suits cause the entire armor to meld together, visually. From a decent distance, can you really tell me you can tell Hermes armor and Fenrir armor apart at first glance? (Not the helmets, mind you, just the armor) now compare two random armor sets from Halo 3. Say, EVA and EOD. Much bolder changes in silhouette and much better shape clarity allows the distinct shape language of each armor set shine through, advantages H4/5 lacks
Simplicity: Reclaimer era armor has very complex shapes. There are no broad and flat shapes that give your eyes time to ‘breath’ as you scan over the armor. This is important, because it allows the design of the armor to direct your eyes to areas of interest. For instance, let’s look at Halo: Reach’s version of ODST armor. The chest is a broad, simple shape, surrounded by directing lines all pointing inwards. This draws your eye outwards from the chest to areas of higher complexity, such as the helmet. H4/5 don’t have this, and the entire armor challenges your eye to find a point of interest.
Personality: this point is much more ephemeral, and it comes down to how Halo uses shape language to convey the personality behind each armor set. Let’s compare two helmets from Halo: Reach. Operator, and Recon. In-lore these helmets were made for similar purposes, to facilitate Oni’s low-profile operations, but they are made for different kinds of characters. Let’s take Recon, for instance. The slim visor, heavy use of black around the ‘eyes’, and rounded head-like shape make the helmet visually similar to a balaclava, an iconic mask used by spies in action movies and the like. Meanwhile, Operator’s broad, beveled visor and large night-vision-goggles-looking-thing makes it more reminiscent of an open-face helmet with a set of night-vision goggles on top, as would be worn by soldiers today. Now tell me… what kind of personality does Fotus convey? The thing it’s reminiscent of, an alicorn (thanks to the horn and wing-like protrusions) don’t mean anything or convey any real personality. There’s nothing to be gleamed about what kind of person is behind that helmet. It’s lifeless.
Hell no lol. I’d shelve Infinite immediately if it went back to the garbage art style of 4 and 5. That’s one of the biggest things that drove me away from those games, it never even looked like Halo.
