First off… all credit goes to dp Apollo qb for turning me on to this in the “IS HALO 5 GUARDIANS SLOWLY DISAPPOINTING YOU?” thread - thanks Apollo!
OK hang with me here for a second…
Here’s what Apollo wrote:
“Josh teased at the possibility of using the AI from Warzone and making it one-sided to be very Firefight-esque. There are no plans for that, but if the community supports it it could be implemented post-launch. Check it out here. see the last response from the post dated 20 June 2015 - 11:09 AM.”
And here’s what was over at Beyond so you don’t have to click above:

“So we know from a NeoGAF post by @Sal1ent (http://www.neogaf.co…&postcount=9516), that Warzone is planned with an additional variant; one without enemy AI opponents. With the news that Halo 5 won’t have Firefight or Spartan Ops, would it be possible to have a third Warzone variant with only one team of players and a large number of enemy AI? I feel like this would be a good replacement for Firefight, and it would make earning energy to use REQ cards an interesting part of survival in the mode, and enemy bosses would make for a challenging addition over Firefight in previous games.”
Sal1ent replied:
“Not for launch but it could be interesting to explore post-launch if there is enough interest from fans.”
Finally, here’s what was over at GAF if you have any interest:
SalientOne quote:
"We’ve talked about this here at E3 so I expect it will come out in the press coverage over the next couple of days. For Warzone we have two different variants planned:
-
The core mode, which is focused on the combination of 12v12 player-versus-player action, base capture and AI-controlled combatants (including bosses). This is what we are demoing and is playable here on the E3 show floor.
-
A Base Assault attack/defend scenario in which one team is attempting to defend each base on a map and the other is pressing to capture the base and push them back in timed phases. The defenders are attempting to hold the base until time runs out. As the attackers manage to capture each base, they force the defenders back and extend time until they are assaulting the Home Base of the defending team and trying to destroy their core. This variant focuses solely on PvP without AI adversaries.
The mode plays differently depending on the variant. In addition, we are working on a more classic BTB experience with timed weapon and vehicle spawns, and this will be introduced shortly after launch with a number of maps specifically optimized for BTB."
