Want 343 to listen?

Hey guys,

I would like to point something out. If i were 343, i wouldnt be listening to you guys right now. WOuld you guys listen to anyone, who the first words out of their mouths is “This is gonna suck i just know it.” If you answered yes, your porbaby lieing.

If you guys really want to be heard, put your opinions out in a nice manner. Dont instantly say the game sucks, or this is what it needs to survive. Just be patient and wait for more information before you say the game sucks. The game will be what it will be, but we can give our input if we are polite in how we do things. Flaming people for what they like and say will get you no where.

Stop flaming. Labeling people as casuals because they arent MLG, they dont agree with you, or they like the new changes, is just wrong. Guys, to make the game good we have to work toghether, because i wouldnt listen to any of us at the moment becasue we dont even show respect for each other. The people around you that you label as casuals, are all fellow gamers on this forum, and disrespecting them will get you nowhere.

If you want your opinion heard, show 343i that your opinion deserves to be heard.

Silent

Silent, you deserve to be banned for this thread.

Everyone knows logic and common sense aren’t allowed here!

Pshh please, If I was 343, I would secretly ban ever last person on here that talked nonstop nonsense about the failure and dumbness of what we are doing. Banned for acting like a superior -Yoink- and for thinking that you make the game and voice everyone else’s opinions. The nostalgics are getting banned too hehehe.

And if anyone thought suspiciously of 343 handing out personal bans, then I’d just blame it on the government and it’d be yet another conspiracy theory.

What is this?! a smart person of the forums!? Gasp

Very well said Silent, we need more people like you in the forums.

Wow, a logical person on Waypoint? I never thought I’d see the day…

> Very well said Silent, we need more people like you in the forums.

Lol its been said thousands of times, but I see no improvements. People will keep going along as they please, as long as they have the right to voice their opinions, whether it be logical, illogical, good or bad…

If I really want to be heard, I go to Seattle and take a megaphone with me. Jokes aside, you’re right that people shouldn’t say such drastic things as “this game will suck”. And this thread is completely okay if it is only directed to those people. But aside from that attitude, there is also one attitude on these forums that irritates me. It’s the “Halo 4 will be amazing, no matter what”.

There is nothing wrong with thinking the game will be amazing, but neither should people try to shove it to everyone else. Too often when I see someone pointing out legitimate concerns pertaining to what we know about Halo 4, I see people attacking them and blaming them for jumping to conclusions.

I completely understand that thirty seconds of gameplay doesn’t sound like a lot and the information about perks and loadouts is vague at best. But in reality, a lot can be deduced from those little pieces of information. And generally, scepticism is always a good attitude to have as long as it’s well justified.

It goes both ways, the people who have concerns pertaining to Halo 4 should state their concerns in a nice and informative manner. The people who have nothing negative to say about Halo 4 on the other hand, shouldn’t blame the people with concerns for jumping to conclusions, because in the end, everything we say has good reasoning behind it, whether the reasoning is stated or not.

Yeah, that is true.

But nowadays it just seems that most of the community is more interested in infighting and making arguments for sake of it, rather than trying to to give useful and logical advice…

LMFAO!!!

Someone who uses common sense, morals, ethics…NO FREAKING WAY! IT…ITS…ITS IMPOSSIBLE!!!

*Says the lady who grabs a cup of coffee then screams: “I’m suing you for Hot coffee” O.o

Heresy

I don’t expect 343i to ‘listen’ to anyone on these forums or anywhere else.

…albeit they may be swayed by a consensus reached through valid comments and discussions…

A smart one is here on the forums!! HURRY, GET THE PITCHFORKS!!

Exactly. Someone would be much more inclined to listen to you argument/discussion if it was done in a kind and informative way. Otherwise, how is one to be taken seriously. To those who dont like the game so far and those who do, everyone is allowed their opinion. While you can work at changing their perspective through small gestures, trying to shove your opinion down their throat will do no good, and will likely cause a rebutle.

Im fine when people want to criticize so long as they can back their claims up with good, logical arguments in a well displayed manner. But to openly say the game is going to suck and the only supporting details being the things we know little to nothing about, thats not exactly a good plan.

I must agree on the perks and loadouts however. I have discussed thos in another thread, and given my opinions to those items and how they could work without affecting to much gameplay or making things to random.

I have a ton of negative things to say about halo 4, but i dont. Most are minor things that could use a tweak or two that wont really affect anything. But i also like to look t the good things, which is unfotunately lacking on this forum.

PS: Hello agian tsassi

Well done, well done.
I couldn’t of said it better my self, or nicer. :stuck_out_tongue:

This might actually be true, seen that i never saw logic from most of the community.

yelling and stomping your feet is never the best way to get heard. By the same token, not saying anything and blindly following isnt a great option either. Use the forums for what they were designed…discussing with one another. 343i is much more likely to read intelligent discussions no matter what the stance than yelling and general -Yoink-

OP, well said.

To be listened to seriously you need to speak / write in a respectful manner. Use proper English, and no profanity.

Recognize opinion from fact, and do not try to hold up opinion as fact. If you cite a fact, cite a reference whenever possible. A good example of this is people who post something like “It’s a fact armor lock is over powered, what can we do about it.” Uh, no, that statement is an opinion. Writing “it’s a fact that …” doesn’t make whatever you write after that a fact.

Don’t flame / engage in personal attacks. Attacking someone personally is a logical fallacy known as Ad Hominem ( http://www.philosophicalsociety.com/Logical%20Fallacies.htm#hominem ) Basically it’s admitting that you can’t support your argument, because instead of using logic and fact to defend it, you resort to personally attacking those who disagree with you. Now, stating that Jim Bob doesn’t know what he’s talking about because he has no experience / expertise in the field would not be Ad Hominem. However; saying Jim Bob doesn’t know what he’s talking about and is wrong because he likes apple pie would be Ad Hominem.

The best way to be listened to in any situation is to remain calm, recognize fact from opinion, don’t personally attack anyone, support things you state are facts with proof, and use proper grammar and language.

If anyone wants to see a complete list of logical fallacies (mistakes you make trying to argue / debate a topic) you can go here:

http://www.philosophicalsociety.com/Logical%20Fallacies.htm

If you want to have fun after you read that, go through the forums and see how many of those you can read people are using. You’d be amazed.

I agree that people should stop arguing and flaming, but I don’t think that not arguing will get peoples ideas to 343i. Sometimes game developers do turn to forums to get a general feel of what the fans want but thats not the case now. The game has a little bit to go so its most likely 95% done. 343 isn’t going to remove something like armor abilities or sprint because 30 people ask for it. Also, the community became so split after reach that it is nearly impossible to appease everyone so 343 will just stick to what they think is right. I’m not sure if they based a lot of their decisions off of what people in these forums said originally, but I am positive that they aren’t making any game changers now.
