So I posted about this earlier. But this time I am REALLY confused. So I’m playing with 6 other members of my Company. Custom games. Just us. I’m the leader. I set up an infection game, I start it, there’s only 7 of 16 players in MY custom game I started and set up, and it kicked me out and says “Waiting to Join a Match in Progress” and won’t let me play. I’m at a total loss. I have no idea what is going on.
You might want to try tech support. It might be some settings on your router. By the way, is your NAT type open?
Yes I would check my NAT settings if I were you, I used to have massive issues joining and hosting custom games because of this.
I am extremely angry at this happening to me constantly. every time I just want to play Halo 5 custom games with my friends, it just kicks me out of the game and puts me on a waiting to join a match in progress screen. It seems that NOBODY else is having this problem, so nobody has found a fix. This has been ruining halo for me and I want nothing but for it to stop

i have this problem right now. im waiting to join a match in progress in every game type. sometimes i join, but the games keep crashing and im returned to ‘waiting to join’. I’m sure its got something to do with your internet connection but I’m not sure what exactly. every other multiplayer game works fine except halo 5.
This same issue has been happening to me recently and it’s to the point I don’t even want to bother playing anymore because I wind up getting kicked out of every Custom Game after about 5 - 10 minutes of playing… and wind up stuck on the “waiting to join match in progress” lobby screen.
I love playing customs and it’s the only thing I do with this game. I think one of the recent updates/patches must’ve screwed something up that’s causing this problem for some of us because it’s never been an issue before until now.

I did a few restarts of my Xbox, then played some different games for a day or two, then when I got back on Halo just played competitive game modes like Slayer and what not. Since then, oddly enough, I have not had the issue at all. Maybe you could try this out, hope it helps.
ok so i think I’ve solved the problem for myself. try clearing the alternate MAC address and restarting ur xbox

I feel like some days matchmaking is bug free and will ready up in no time and other days it’s just broken
