Wait, this is temporarily right?

That when you go in player mode in Forge you get dynamic lighting, but not whilst in Forge mode.

That’ll change right? That dynamic lighting is in both player and forge mode? Otherwise it might get annoying.

Probably only temporary.
Though I think it’s better that way, it helps with seeing around.

While forging, the dynamic lighting will not take effect. However, once you go to player mode, and the lighting is added to your forge pieces, that lighting is permanent until you affect those pieces again.

Well not really you know? Let’s say you created an awesome map in Forge without (or forgetting to) going into player mode. You save it and name it and then test play it. But as soon as you play it it’s dark as hell. Well actually not, hell isn’t dark I think. But you get the point.

Creating the map in forge mode should be the same as in player mode, so no visually changes from going into both modes. Otherwise you need to change or fix your map again.

Aw man that is kinda annoying.

If I make a building or something I can’t see it’s dark. I’d first have to go into player mode. Then choose in forge mode a light to place so it won’t be dark but then I can’t see if it’s too light or still too dark. I’d have to go into player mode again. And if the light isn’t placed correctly I’d have to go into forge again but then I can’t see if I make it too dark or too light again.

even though dynamic lighting is cool and all I honestly wish they would stop putting such things in games, it seems like it would be a nuisance to a lot of people and might even lessen the popularity of forge in halo 4 because “OMG now I see shadows!”

I hope personally that they give us the option to turn it off.

People have been complaining about the relationship between lighting and Forge pieces since Halo 3. Dynamic lighting was going to happen eventually.

Opposite for me. I hate building a map, and having all the colors going weird because of lighting glitches an such. It just makes the map seem more unnatural.

I see the new dynamic lighting only as a bonus.

Exactly.

Besides objects now sitting more naturally within maps and in regard to each other now.

Oh, and nobody can ever make Forge appeal to everybody it seems.
First people complain how limited it is in H3.
Reach gives us tons of options, and people complain about the grey colorscheme (rightfully so) and size of Forge World.
H4 gives us dynamic lighting to make things look less stale, and gives us 3 smaller Forge Maps…and people start complaining about dynamic lighting and smaller (still a relative thing here, seeing how far the Ravine map goes out into the sea) maps.

This is no big deal if you ask me. In the demo it looked like it took no time at all to add the lighting. Im fine with this is it makes our maps look even more beautiful.

Whoa I didn’t mean I hate dynamic lighting. I am super happy that it’s there! I’m gonna use it very good for my infection maps and other fun stuff.

But it could be slightly annoying to change to player/Forge mode all the time in Forge. Like I said, I placed a light in forge but can’t see in forge mode if I placed it well enough. I have to go to player mode to see the lighting if it’s exactly the way I wanted.

This.

Op, you should also notice the delay in time between being Lightbulb and S-IV.

I would actually be annoyed if dynamic lighting WAS on in Forge Mode… The game would lag up every time you spawn or move a piece. Notice how when you switch to player mode a brief loading bar comes up?

That’s strange. Why would dynamic lighting lag in forge and not in player mode?

If you move pieces in forge can’t really be the cause right? Because if you’re in matchmaking explosions and vehicles going rampage also casts shadows and these things move too.

Yeah I noticed the loading screen but that’s not awful. It’s just a split second.
