Wait. If there's no sound in space....

Then how did Cortana wake Chief up?

Roflcopter.

shes connected to him…

> shes connected to him…

SOURCE? SOURCE?

Just kidding.

Women can defy the laws of physics, even computer generated ones, so be careful 0.o

Exactly. And how was there fire? Fire needs oxygen, and there’s no oxygen in space.

EVERYTHING HAS TO BE REALISTIC!1!1!11!1!1!1!!!

Stop trolling. Halo isn’t suposed to be realistic.

Is that why they randomly teleport behind me?

I know your imitating cod players, but it’s Halo, it’s never realistic

He’s still in his suit. She could’ve talked into the comm unit.

From the concept art, you can see that the planet clearly has an atmosphere. You can also see large circular structures on it.

Perhaps Chief and Cortana got pulled in by a tractor beam or something, causing them to get sucked into one of those circular structures, which, from the concept art, appears to be in-atmosphere. This would explain the fire and explosions being visible, as well as the sound being audible.

lol took chem last year at university:

Some compounds that are oxidized can burn in space (there is enough oxidation in KNO_3 to cause combustion even in zero atm.

Guns today would jam after a few shots in space, because they use lubricated parts that freeze in such harsh environments, but the explosions you saw could be from any form of “science fiction” things, perhaps due to the gravitational stress of the shield worlds tractor beam, or maybe a meltdown of a fusion reactor. Who knows.

Why argue about space fire when they claim to use inter dimensional travel known as “slip space” to jump across the galaxy in as little as two weeks. Its the future bro, in halo wars there was an artificial star INSIDE of an artificial planet.

They are why everything happens, its scary O.O

This is also a good argument.

A fellow nerd! I’m not alone on these forums anymore!

She probably talked to him through him COM channel. In plus, how often do you see games/movies obeying the law of there being no sound in space? Having sound makes it more interesting and engaging, even if it’s not 100% realistic.

You don’t actually wake somebody from cryosleep just by screaming. You don’t dream in cryosleep, you don’t hear sounds. Obviously Cortana just interfaced with cryotube controls and initiated the “unfreeze” procedure. Calling for Chief (probably via comms) was just a means to speed things up and add a dramatic vibe.

Regarding the sounds in space. There is no clear evidence that there was no atmosphere left in the ship. Also, sounds may be emulated by the suit to increase situational awareness. However, this is not canon in Halo universe, AFAIK. But similar explanations are given in other universes, e.g. EVE.

Well, if you watch the trailer, you will notice that the fire distinguishes (not sure if typed correctly) immediately after it turns on (not sure if correct word)

the UNSC Savannah was blown up in a ball of fire ? is this also wrong ?
