Wait and See...

I for one, am fascinated to see if 343i pull off this game. They are clearly taking some pretty extreme risks, and failure could be absolutely catastrophic. Something tells me, though, that in a studio that is supposedly filled with Halo fans that 343i executives didn’t have a secret meeting and go “Mwahahaha! We will intentionally ruin Halo forever!”

They have been testing this for a little while now, and it is apparent that they believe that they can make these extreme changes while still keeping the game a Halo title.

Overall, I think these changes could actually be really good if 343i manages to present and implement them correctly. If it isn’t perfect though, they will have some post-release adjustments to make, or just a flat out failure of a game.

This is one of those games where we will have to wait for either more information or it’s release to truly see whether or not it has any merit.

Halo 4 will not be all doomsday CoD 2.0 rip-off like people would like to believe. Did they add some features similar to CoD? Yes, but they are trying different things out. I am in no way a fan of all the things they wish to implement, but I don’t believe in blind hate.

halo will be halo end of subject and im sure that this game will b just fine

Halo 4 will defintly not play like a Call of Duty game even with the call of Duty like changes they have made to the game. You won’t die from three shots to the legs. People just don’t want anything call of duty like in this game which I can understand I don’t want it either but who knows this my be the new standard of a halo game only time will tell. People need to voice there opinions without flaming on each other both side have vaild points.

Like you said, they are a studio composed of the fans of Halo, and they know what makes a good Halo game. I have a feeling that this game will very successful despite the changes done to the formula. I mean, they fixed all of the major complaints with Reach, which is one huge step in the right direction.

In plus, they are taking a big risk, yes, but it could potentially lead to a big reward. Take a look at Call of Duty. Yes, it is a very successful franchise that has a lot of sales. However, more and more people are starting to complain about the series and the fact that it never changes, and Modern Warfare 3 was received rather negatively compared to the other ones, due to it being rushed, leading to bad maps and an extremely short campaign. Halo, on the other hand, has always strives to be different from past games.

Perhaps Reach wasn’t the most well received Halo game either, but 343 Industries has already shown that it has learned from the mistakes that Bungie made in Reach (bloom, armour lock, slower gameplay) and fixed them for Halo 4. All that’s left for them to do now is evolve the game into something marvelous.

In short, Halo 4 is going to be awesome.

I think this going to be a little off center of halo gameplay. It is going to play different from all halo games and all Call of Duty games and that is a little scary, this is going to be a new monster I hope it turns out well.

I have the same opinion right now.

Think like this, if Halo 4 were to suck, we could trade it in and get most money back as well as try a new game, no risk. But if Halo 4 were to fail, 343i would loose their jobs they had to move to get, and being unemployed is not as fun as it might sound.
No, it’s in 343i’s best interest that Halo 4 is flying of the shelf’s, or their future is pretty dark.
They decided to work at 343i because they cared for Halo, because they wanted Halo, not CoD, Halo!
Hence I got to put some confidence in them, and we got to agree that Halo CE Anniversary sure is good, especially the additions added by 343i

Actually, I think that it carries one idea over from Reach pretty faithfully: the ability to play your way and differentiate yourself from other Spartans in functional ways as well as aesthetically. It would be pretty cool if they had different choices in “Perks” (for lack of a better term) that would help you be more efficient with different weapons.

For instance, if you knew you wanted to go all pro with precision weapons, there could a perk that reduces recoil. Or, if you wanted to go in the other direction, you could get a perk that slows the bloom increase of the AR, and increases the range.

When Bungie made Reach they werent hungry like 343 is making Halo 4. That alone i think will make Halo 4 a much more appealing game than Reach ever could be.

Eye of the tiger Rock, eye of the tiger.

True, 343i does have a lot to prove. They are definitely taking lots of risks, though, and that means that the success of these risks is almost singularly dependent on the presentation and implementation of these new features.

I’m honestly really surprised as to how well the community has received all this change. The last game (Reach) that made dramatic changes to the formula didn’t set well with the community. Either the Waypoint community as a whole had a serious change of heart, or the more radical “Conservatives/‘Keep everything the same!’” groups have simply given up and left.
