I just saw the Halo 5 video. The thing that stuck out to me the most was the insane amount of medals being dished out for doing basically nothing. If you take your first step you probably get a medal. Look up? Here’s a medal for moving your head!
Overloading the player with medals pretty much makes trying to obtain them meaningless. Keep medals in the game but trim them down and make earning a medal a bit more difficult. That makes more sense to me.
after playing halo games without a medal for grenade kills headshot kills, I can safely say these medals make the game a lot better and actually tell me when and how I got a kill
they don’t need announcement though but its better than just nothing
Eh, I don’t mind the medals, they are not any more intrusive than other games. In post game it is a unique way to break down how the match played out.
I just have a problem with the constant announcements for every little thing you do. Multi-kills, killing sprees, and objectives only. As long as they toned down the number of ‘announced’ medals, I don’t mind simply having extra medals.
First team member to 10 kills, three headshot kills in one life and having your shields recharge x times in one life are not looking up or taking your first step. I’m skeptical about Halo 5 but this needless complaining about every minor detail is embarrassing.

facepalm. You do not need medals to tell when and how you obtained a kill…
I agree, three headshots in one life is not something to brag about and I also don’t want the announcer shouting irrelevant stuff in my face.
Agreed. Medals for headshots and grenade kills is literally notifying you every time you perform the most basic piece of gameplay.
As for helping someone know when they get a kill…

Sarcasm eludes you. I just mean you don’t need a medal in your face for things that happen every single match multiple times, like a headshot kill. Really? Not needed. Just put headshots in the stat page. Halo 4 worked hard to be Call of Duty or implement CoD elements. This game should strive to get back to the roots of the franchise.
Yeah, too many medals and way too much of the announcer all the time for sure.

Are you just complaining about Halo 5 medals, or Halo medals in general? I ask this because you seem to think that a headshot medal is ridiculous, even though that one has been in the franchise ever since medals were introduced.
No good reason for there not to be a lot of medals.

And dat Perfect Kill medal.
OT: Honestly, I don’t see the point in complaining about these, nor do I think they should be removed. Not everybody is 1337, you know. A noob who usually charges into battle with an AR and gets himself killed within seconds might learn a thing or two after getting a Hard Target medal. Or a decent player might only discover the fabled 4shot after a Perfect Kill. They help new players. And that isn’t a bad thing.
I hate the fact that there’s a medal for everything now, and I hate the fact we need to make everybody feel special in their own little way.
If you need a medal to tell you everything you did and didn’t accomplish in a game, then I honestly don’t even know what to say to you.
The medals in halo 5 so far actually take skill to receive. I’d rather have a perfect kill medal or big game hunter opposed to generic kill or comeback kill.
I love the new medals. like hat trick. get three head shots in a row, or top gun. get ten kills before your team does

headshot medal was introduced in reach, sorry it was in h3 campaign first. tbh i don’t mind headshot medals, just extra confirmation in games where people sponge shots. however there should be no voice attached and that should be the only non-special medal presented in game, if even that.

it’s annoying and it creates a lot of white noise around non-special performance
if there is something special you can do in the game there should be a medal
but not for things like kill, grenade kill, kill enemy while sprinting.
tbh things like laser kill or snipe kill are fine but nothing easier than that, otherwise it ends up like halo 4 and stream of medals and announcements filling up the screen and having to bear through jeff steitzer parody himself.

No good reason for medals to be pointless clutter that takes up a part of your screen, either. Medals should be earned by doing something amazing such as achieving a Perfection, not things like killing people with a sword or a grenade.
