Vote to forfeit

So yesterday I was playing Team Slayer with one of my friends, and 5-6 games we had at least one person on our team quit out on us. All in one night. Some of the games it was still close and we had a chance to win, other games we got demolished. It sucks, all of us have had to deal with quitters at one point or another. But that’s not really the worst thing for me. The worst thing isn’t that we had team mates quit, it’s that we can’t quit when we have absolutely no chance of winning, or else we face some ridiculous ban times. 343 forces you to finish the rest of the game even if nobody wants to, and you have to sit there getting req’d over and over and over again for the rest of the game. It’s like kicking you when you’re down.

The team that had the quitters don’t want to finish the game because they have no chance of winning, and they’re getting gangbanged for the next 10 minutes. The team without the quitters don’t want to finish the match because they want to play Halo, not Easter egg hunt bonanza. Literally running around the map for 10 minutes straight searching for 1-2 Spartans hiding in every random corner available to them. It isn’t fun for either team, but the remaining Spartans aren’t going to quit for fear of the insane ban times.

Why force them to finish the match if NOBODY wants to? Let them forfeit if everyone on the team votes to. It could be a system where you start off the game, and when you hold the back button it will say “0 of 4 Spartans on your team have voted to forfeit the match.” Every time someone votes to forfeit it will go up one, and you can check how many people have voted by viewing the current game stats page at any time during the game. Your team won’t be able to forfeit unless every person on your team has voted to.

Have you ever had a Flag game where your team is completely outmatched, but instead of the enemy team capping the third flag the enemy is like “Nah, we’re just gonna hold the flag in our base while we farm kills until the time runs out.”? Awwwwwww, that’s too bad. You’re gonna finish the match anyways because quitters are the trash of the Halo community. You’re garbage and you should feel bad for yourself. You want to quit? Here’s a three hour ban. I guess you’re not playing Halo for the rest of the night you piece of crap.

That’s the attitude 343 is displaying with the current system. Yes, having someone on your team quit sucks. It puts you at an unfair advantage. And by all means, if they quit out, ban the hell out of them. But not being able to forfeit can also suck. That’s why you should let them if the ENTIRE team votes to. Literally every single person on the team is saying “I don’t want to play this match anymore.” There is no reason to force them to finish the match. If a couple people want to finish the match, then quitters are an inconvenience. If nobody wants to finish the match, then not being able to quit is an inconvenience. If quitting isn’t inconveniencing anyone, then don’t punish them.

One of the things 343 should realize is that quitting isn’t always a bad thing. Sometimes forcing people to finish the match is worse. It’s not fun. If people aren’t enjoying the match, let them leave. But only as long as it isn’t inconveniencing your team mates that want to finish.

Anywayssssss, my post is pretty unorganized and I’m not even entirely sure if I got my thoughts out there the way I wanted to. If you have any suggestions to improve this idea, feel free to share. If you hate the idea, share why! I don’t think voting to forfeit is a perfect system, but I think it’s a huge improvement over their current system.

I myself just had a few games like that. Except I didn’t have a friend with me and had a 1v4 match. It’s crap. 2 left within the first 2 seconds of both games

100% agree with you dude, almost every single game of slayer i have 1-2 people on my team quit, and it’s so damn frustrating. The amount of times you die is unbelievable, and there’s no chance of hiding anywhere. The ban is ridiculous in my opinion, yes i do agree that quitting should have repercussions, but only if it’s game after game. A one off quit is harmless, especially in those conditions. I just don’t understand why people join a game and then quit straight away within seconds. I get that sometimes you lose connection and that’s fair enough i understand that issue. I just think it’s unfair having to sit there and be killed like 20 times.

Prepare to hear the “play with friends” argument.

Even that doesn’t work from time to time as somehow someway people get disconnected from the party when the game loads and you’ll still be down a man.

Good sir, you are 100% right. This should absolutely be an option. It would be for people to quit in social slayer because people could join mid-match…oh wait, we don’t have a social slayer playlist. Oh silly me.

And even with friends you can still be outmatched and put up against jerks who just toy with you so that argument is pointless.

Yea happens to me all the time, 1 guy quits before the game and the 2nd guy will quit either right in the beginning or after he has died 5 times. It’s so dumb. with 3v4 you have a chance sometimes but 2v4 is always ridiculous.

Not a bad system but I wouldn’t mind staying IF the loss didn’t count towards my csr.

If you are being farmed in warzone(or for some reason only have 5 members[this actually happened to me☹{that is a sad face}]are on your team)then just deal with it and fight for it! As Sarah Palmer would(annoyingly)say, “We aren’t out of this yet, we can still destroy the enemy core!”.

Lol.

Dude, why don’t you just play with friends if you don’t want to have to deal with teammates quitting
