VOTE! Should 343 Change Default Communication Settings?

Halo: Infinites multiplayer feels lifeless. Each match I feel like I am on a team consisting of BOTs with various difficulty settings.

Voice Chat populations have already impacted by things Xbox Live Party Chat, Discord and other 3rd party Voice Over IP services. Why does Halo Infinite need an additional barrier to entry and fun?

Would you want the voice chat default set to Always On?
(Provided there was a user friendly way to mute disruptive players using the in game interface.)

Always on won’t help when people don’t even put on headsets.

Give us post game lobby chats and the ability to invite people. Those are the two things that I want to see added in.

This is true, but it should be always on anyway.

Push to talk for controllers when? Mics being turned off by default + controller players being forced to use open mic. They really wanted to just churn us in and out of matchmaking lobbies while we bought cosmetics, huh?

It’s totally cool if people choose not to use a headset at all, but the default should encourage players to interact.

If this gets enough votes maybe they may consider changing the setting in a future Drop Pod.

There should also be pre/post-match lobby as well.

Why the default wasn’t on in the first place makes zero sense…343i at its best yet again….

I keep everyone and myself muted on purpose. No thanks.

I would say a pop up message upon first game log in or after an update login (when the change is implemented) have it say something around the lines of: “Would you like to enable in game chat by default?” With a selection of yes or no, so that it is an opt in feature appointed to the player from the beginning.

This is a better option - it used to be on by default, you’d just get breathers, screechers and people that didn’t even know it was on. I’d rather hear from people that actually want it on rather than people finding out they’ve been crap talking audibly for weeks and just realised because someone called them out

This would be the best of both worlds! Opt in/Out Prompt or Always on would benefit this game so much. Default Off is a mistake keeping the community from growing.
We have tools for moderating through the Xbox Live report system if things get toxic. Let the users make those calls/reports.

I do think part of the problem is that a lot of players don’t take the initiative especially now… I don’t want co come off preachy, but at least from my experience there are players who forget that a block or mute option exists. That said I lean more towards in game prompts rather than always on or always off. Player decision.

It doesn’t need different defaults. It needs clear defaults and choice. In halo 5 and 4 and reach and every other halo. you could set up a party and at least in 5 you could easily toggle between all-chat and party chat (I can’t remember the others). In infinite the settings are damn confusing. “fireteam + lobby” means you get matched with randos not your actual lobby. All chat doesn’t allow you to toggle. Frankly, my team doesn’t need to hear me curse someone out (friend or enemy) to my party, or hear my party talking and giving call-outs they have no context for. If you actually want to play with friends, the game forces you to mute everything. And I use an entirely different app and turn off all voice, to make damn well sure the entire match can’t hear my private conversations between friends or flaming that they really shouldn’t have to put up with. Yelling into an empty room, or to my bro is OK. Yelling to my rando team is not.

And regarding Block/Mute that’s way to tedious in a game of 12 folks. exp in games where the first minute can be win or lose like flag.

It doesn’t hurt either, so why not default to on.
