Volunteering Opportunities

Although this mainly applies to the MCC due to it being the collection of legacy games, I’ve been thinking of volunteering staff.
The Halo Community is one of the most dedicated fanbases in the entire gaming industry and there are many people who are so skilled and talented and creative that they deserve to be working at 343 itself. These people, however, manage to create content and develop ideas all on their own and would give anything to have these to be put into the main game. Possibly, 343 could start a volunteering and commissions program to get more people making and perfecting these games and these people who know and understand the very essence of halo can get their content out there into their beloved franchise.

For the sake of memory and QC concerns I think it’s fine that mods remain mods. I know there will be some awesome stuff coming from the modding scene, but once better mod support arrives I don’t see why these mods have to be added to the retail game. 343 is sticking around for the next year to hopefully deliver critical big fixes.

I mean, anyone who forges or creates custom games or hosts lobbies like that is essentially a volunteer for the community, right? I think 343 has done a wonderful job of spreading the love for people who want to get involved in the community, whether it’s through their posts, moderation opportunities in the forums/discords, or just community events or forge/custom games.

Honestly I don’t think we need to be normalizing unpaid labor for AAA game development companies. The best thing 343 can do along this vein is continue improving mod support.

Agreed!

I was not talking about unpaid labour, I did say “commissions”. For general ideas and concepts (not full scale modding, because there are people without the skills to do that), I think that there should be a direct line to 343i beyond waypoint and one that has an upvote system so 343i can see the general response to it. (I may just be dumb and don’t see that this is already a thing, yet if this waypoint is all we got, it should be expanded.)
For modders who make full blown content, 343i could commission them to create content for the game (or just expand on the content that they have already made) and assisst 343i in putting it into the game. After inputting it into the game, 343i should give the commissionee a big fat cheque. Creators that consistently make content (that is also popular) for the company could then they could be offered a job by 343i for what they where creating.

I should have clarified these things when I said them.
