Voices of war is not a regular pack

I would gladly pay real money for it. This pack is on the same category as the eSports packs, the Warzone premium bundle and the Arena premium bundle which was charged real money and requisitions. Voice announcers are entirely different to your standard requisitions and with the free update coming its considered a bonus.
Anyone that thinks the announcers are just standard requisitions and should be bought with RP is kidding themselves. We need that RP for actual requisitions and Spartan customisation in the upcoming free update.

totally agree with u mate…also, they have to consider the fact that 343 paid big bucks to get at least 2 of those actors to record a few lines (buck and exuberant’s voice actors).

besides…its $4 if im not mistaken…a very reasonable price imo.

Where did it say 4 dollars the new bulletin said 10 and still does?

Copy/Pasted from Community Update.

“This REQ Pack will unlock three new announcers that you can toggle between to commentate in your Warzone, Warzone Firefight and Arena matches. You’ll gain access to three distinctly different announcers: Spartan Buck, Yabda the Merciless, and 031 Exuberant Witness. It’s important to note up front that unlike everything else coming in the massive Halo 5 update, this particular REQ pack is not free, it’s a premium purchase that will be available for $9.99 which includes all three announcers.”

oops…mb…guess i got overexcited with the grenade launcher and misread that heh  but im still ok with the price. (me being someone who has not spent a single dollar for a req pack till date)

Nope, nope, nope. Not by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin, I won’t let this REQ pack in [my wallet].

To each their own, but this is not for me.

This is always the most frustrating thing about this forum, any time there is an update people complain about the same thing over and over. This is the same. People complain about how "I’m not paying for an REQ Pack (because $9.99 is more pocket money I get in two months from my Mum). I would never give 343i money" And those people are the same who complain about bugs and how slow they are. Do you think they can just do all this stuff for free? 343i Is a business and businesses need and take money, simple. And this REQ Pack most of all is a good point. Voice acting is not like coding stuff into a game, you need actors, time, lot’s of money, etc. That mixed with free updates means less money for 343i, which means you don’t get a working game if you don’t support them with Packs. You know, the game you complain about how broken it is. While yes, the argument about how some people would prefer to pay for DLC rather than REQ Packs, I don’t know. That’s actually more expensive and this brings in more money for 343i better than what paid DLC would, and that and keeps the game running.

I’m happy with how H5 is, campaign aside.

But, just because I don’t want to pay for DLC doesn’t mean I hate 343i.

Furthermore, regardless of paid or free DLC, a game should not be broken or glitchy. I’m not saying H5 is, but people not paying for DLC is no excuse to ignore glitches and exploits. We did buy the base game after all, and that’s what people expect to work properly.

Again, none of this is done for free. We paid for the game. Providing ongoing content extends to life of the game, ensuring that more people continue to buy that same game. People want to buy in to healthy communities. A long lasting, thriving community will boost its own sales. So, free content benefits the game profit-wise in the long run.

In summary, I’m not going to buy a voice pack, but no harm-no-foul for those that do or those that don’t.

$9.99 for buck? You know what…

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!(But only because I don’t have much else to buy.) I don’t plan on upgrading my pre-order of Halo wars 2, probably only going to buy the season pass sold separately, and halo reach, because why not?)

Oh, it can be justified in every conceivable way. That doesn’t mean it isn’t dirty. Like Lawyers…or Politics.

people here are always itching to complain about something and like usual 343i does something so now the itchy complainers are at it again, let’s call it as it is, people here want this that or the other and don’t it beat all that they don’t wanna pay for it thinking that they are entitled to get stuff free or whatnot, how do you do, what in tarnation, so well anyway it’s not the end of the world that this req pack is coming and frankly it’s a mighty fine addition if you are going to pony up and drop the coin on it

In regards to the price: Realistically, $9.99 isn’t that bad of a price for a purely cosmetic bonus (especially considering how voice acting isn’t cheap). That said, 343i has pretty much demonized that price tag by making it their default for every premium REQ they sell. Now every time we hear “for $9.99”, we instantly think its a ripoff.

Considering things like programming, voice acting, publishing, taxes, etc the pack really shouldn’t be below $7.00.

Just curious as to how you arrived with that specific number?

When this will be available?

Mainly took it off the top of my head. If it was $5.00, then everyone involved would only make about 2 cents per pack purchased. Microsoft takes a large flat percentage (often between 20 to 40%) simply because they approve and publish the material. 343i then takes another ~30% as profit (what they use to pay their employees and update their equipment). Now here comes the twist: voice acting isn’t cheap. Unless 343 has a built in recording studio, they’ll have to rent one out and spend 5 to 15 hours there. Then they have to get the voice actors, which not only get paid for acting, but also get accommodated for traveling over. Also, big time voice actors will have premium contracts that demand they make a certain percentage of everything sold with them in it.
Put simply: A voice pack is a lot more expensive then a few textured armors and weapons.

After reading this thread, I think the price is justified by now, but I doubt I’d be getting the pack anytime soon. I would kill to have Buck and/or Exuberant announce WZFF instead of Palmer (Palmer’s okay, but now that we have better options, I want the new options), but I have more important things to spend my minimum wage on now. :frowning: Maybe when I can come up with $10 and nothing I need to spend it on, I’ll go for it. Again, the price is justified, but I just don’t want to dive into this without a second thought.

Posted this in another thread, but worth saying here I think:

The audio guys really put a lot of work into these, I think you’ll find that they’re definitely worth it. Not only are the voices different, but the actual lines can be different from what the normal announcer says (the Grunt is particularly hilarious for this).

If you’re on the fence, I’m sure you’ll be able to find someone on Twitch/YouTube who has them and you can hear them in action.

I agree

I’ll definitely be getting the pack. More Buck, more Exuberant, and NO MORE PALMER! The $9.99 pricing is a little unfortunate but I’m happy that Nathan Fillion, Melanie Minichino, and Joseph Staten(?) will be getting paid for coming back to record 40+ lines of dialogue.
