SERIOUSLY?? THE SYSTEM IS -Yoinking!- GARBAGE -Yoink-, I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THAT THERE WAS A BAN LIKE THIS.i didn’t do anything wrong and my voice wasn’t too loud. i didn’t deserve this ban.
ALSO i’m one of the few players that still play this game and now you decide to ban me, Are you -Yoinking!- serious 343? Now i am forced everytime to get in a xbox live party if i want to talk with multiple people.
and this has happened to many friends of mine so 343i change your garbage system, it is pointless because it wansnt in halo reach and 3, if you don’t want to hear other people just mute them but don’t ban me idiot

Ummm…343 doesn’t have the power to ban you…Xbox Live does. You’re kinda blaming the wrong people.
I concur, it may suck to be voice banned, but remember that 343 has NO control over that. Only XBL does. I’m guessing something happened that caused all player to mute you.

It was NOT in reach. I’M SURE that 343 did something so they could ban people

As I said, XBL is the only thing that can ban you. It is an automated system, but it is very accurate. You are sure that you didn’t trash talk or swear, right? Bans can be for things as simple as that.

NO I didn’t trash talk i was just talking with my friends in party chat and reacharging my headset and everytime i recharge it the headset makes a strange noise. So it wasn’t my fault because the other players could just mute me and nothing would have happened

It might be the strange noise you described. Bummer if that’s true. I’m not entirely sure why voice bans are issued. I’ve never been banned before (and I don’t use voice in Halo much, if at all), so I can’t tell you why this happens. Sorry.

Voice bans are completely player controlled, if you receive X mutes in X amount of time, you’ll receive one.
It doesn’t matter if you are in party chat, not talking, etc, you’ll still receive one if enough people mute you.
It is a pretty broken system and has been around since Reach

So if enough people are just total jerks and mute you just because they want to, then you get a voice ban? Geez, that’s harsh.

As moa said, enough Mutes and you’ll get a mute ban.
It’s there to deter trash talking, but it only gave sore losers and trolls another powerful weapon.

It was in Reach. I saw around 30 people over the entire lenght of my time playing that game that were voice banned.

That’s actually a misuse of the system and in itself bannable.
Either way, players like you have given me sooo much bad rep. No offense.
I have roughly 50% unsporting, and I never team kill intentionally or anything else that would be considered unsporting. I play my best all the time.
Does the muting apply to custom games? I know a lot of the top players mute players on the other team before starting a scrim. It has nothing to do w/ inappropriate language or harassing but simply for discussing strategies post/pre game and to avoid a general clutter of people talking. I have also seen at least two of them post on twitter that they received a “voice ban”. (Granted they could have been banned for other reasons but could it be a flaw in the system?)
