I want to start off by saying I’m not mad at 343i for implementing an automated ban system. It completely makes sense. It would take wayyyy too much man power to ban everyone that needs it, therefor, this is the next best thing. That being said, there are some problems with it. I was voice banned for 1 week and I honestly have no idea why. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If there is no just cause for the ban, I would like it to be lifted so I can go back to talking with the very few people that actually use mics in the game. Thanks!
In-game voice bans are given to players who have been muted enough times. There is no appeals or reporting process; the entire system is automated and appears to have no human oversight.
This has been public knowledge since the Reach era. There are multiple causes of false bans, including:
- Playing against people who are unaware of the game’s audio settings, and manually mute everyone they encounter
- Playing against people who are aware of the ban system and vindictively abuse it
It’s a really bad system and I have no idea why 343i still uses it.
That’s really unfortunate. I play in the same room as my friend so we often mute and unmute each other to avoid echo for other players. I guess that’s what I get for trying to avoid annoying other players.
