VK78 Commando Nerf?

And one of my current challenges is to get 15 kills with it

Yeah the gun just totally nose dived. Yes I’m M&K, it is just straight not good to use. Even in a Panicked mess I can kill with the BR, but the Commando not only can’t finish a kill it can’t really start one either. The extra bullet combined with the bloom creates a really really bad situation where you CANT use the gun full auto at MOST ranges. I’m going to try leading my shots next halo session, and see if its my Ping.

To update my prior comments, in my recent play I found the Commando to be much more useful in Ranked than anything else. It’s the mid-range to short-range replacement for the AR but still nearly impossible to beat the BR at mid or far range unless you get the drop on your opponent by a second.

343 should consider either buffing the weapon across all playlists or removing it from BTB and unranked.

Personally I found it way better balanced now. That 1 extra shot to kill feels way more reasonable

This gun is downright terrible. It was bad before the nerf and now it is completely pointless even picking it up.

The nerf made absolutely no sense. No one was asking for it to be nerfed. Everyone was asking for the exact opposite, actually. Clearly their internal data is showing them that it wasn’t functioning how THEY wanted it to, not to what the PLAYER BASE wanted.

And I think that’s the problem with 343i in this instance (and many others): they don’t actually care what the players want, they only care about what they want. Oh, the Commando doesn’t work exactly how we wanted it to work, even though the players are saying they want something different than what we want? Well, too bad. We’re gonna force the issue and totally disregard what the players are saying. It’s an anti-customer approach. And we’re seeing this happen in many other aspects of the game beyond the Commando (aim system, battle pass progression, etc)

But back to the Commando nerf: ya, it’s totally useless now. It’s not better than any of the AR, Sidekick or BR in any situation. It went from having a very useful, multi-purpose role to being multi-useless.

I really thought 343i was going to listen to the players this time around. I’ve been disappointed with the results so far.

I understand that when someone try-hards with it it’s unbalanced in comparison to the rest of the sandbox.
However taking into account the bloom and recoil this nerf makes it not even worth picking up for casual players. I really don’t understand why this gun is balanced around a fast TTK with hard handling instead of like a BR with a slow TTK but hits effortlessly across most ranges.

I loved how the Commando was in the previous Flight. Its versatility - tap-fire for range, full auto to ride the recoil into a headshot at close ranges - and its quicker rate of fire for ease of target transition/follow-ups made it my favorite weapon and I would pick it up over the Battle Rifle last flight. Not to say that the BR was inferior - they both were very good weapons when played to their strengths. The Commando was a more weird-feeling weapon, but I loved it.

The tweak made to this current iteration I think was too much of a step back for it, the nerf to its damage being enough where it feels inferior now to the BR and other weapons while still having that inherent weirdness that has been pretty much a universal opinion for it in my experience from speaking with others. If it could change back to how it was in the BTB Flight I would be happy.
