I mean I feel that it is justified. The thing kicked like a mule but after spending a few hours in the training grounds getting a handle on it and mowing down the bots, I can see why. It was a pretty lethal contender to the BR at mid to long range.
But my problem with this is that the AR that everyone spawns with is inherently better. So why on earth would you pick it up now?
Iām not sure why anyone would pick up the commando to replace the AR. It isnāt optimized for close range.
Iām just disappointed they didnāt give the AR a nerf, I feel like it would help the Commando distinguish itself as a ranged full auto a bit more.
By nerfing the Commando now both weapons are even closer in function than they were before.
Generally I dislike nerfing. Guns should be dangerous.
Maybe they can put a pretty unicorn on it too? Just like Lindaās sniper. Tee Heeā¦
Yeah, the AR should be nerfed, and so should the Commando. They made 1 good decision and not 2.
Surprised we didnāt see anything about it frankly.
Vk was my favorite weapon. Tap firing it game no bloom virtually and only increased its .9 TTK to 1.1
This is strange to me as well. The Commando was generally harder to use than the Assault Rifle and only had a slightly faster headshot TTK. I donāt really get why that was nerfed but the Assault Rifle with its really good range, unnecessary headshot multiplier, and ease of use was left untouched.
I donāt understand either. The AR is great but it competes at too far of range with itās insane ttk. The Commando was apparently competing too far though?
The AR doesnāt even technically have a scope and the Commando does. If the Commando is supposed to be closer range then it is redundant. The AR is dominant in most scenarios and the only saving grace the Commando had was itās slightly better range then the AR.
Youāre forgetting accuracy at different ranges.
The commando was an absolute beast in the latest flight. While Iāll be sad to see it go, itās necessary for balancing.
I donāt want to sound bad, but the rifle commando requires a buff arrangement on consoles, itās a bit difficult to aim, especially with the recoil of the weapon.
I play mostly on console and I found it fine to use and very deadly. Others may have had difficulty to use it but it needs to be nerfed due to more skillful players being able to abuse it.
In a best case scenario it killed just barely faster then the AR, and the AR canāt be deacoped either. Now the AR is going to have a faster kill time then the Commando. At this point there is simply no reason to take a Commando over an AR as there was barely a reason to do so already.
I never saw that many people play well with it, mostly K&M players but never a controller player. Every game I played where the Commando was the weapon on map it was mostly ignored.
The Commando has a much higher accuracy at most ranges than the AR.
The TTK is optimal but with the AR you wonāt be hitting every bullet in most encounters, especially outside of pretty close range.
The Commando is very versatile. It was used a lot in my lobbies and I was matching lots of Onyx/Champion players from Halo 5.
Thatās the opposite reason anything should be nerfed, ever. Skilled players should be dominant.
Please remember that this is NOT a spawn weapon being talked about. Itās a map pickup. It should be worth picking up.
Itās simple. The Commando started to become a meta, and given the live-service nature of this game, the meta will forever be shifting and changing. The Commando isnāt meant to win every fight against the other weapons, so they nerfed it to make it on par with the rest of the weapons.
If a meta quickly forms around the gun, I think that answers the question of what the starting weapon should be so that players can defend themselves at spawn, rather than getting spawn camped once the other team takes them all.
If you thought this weapon wasnāt especially viable or productive, how did it come to be your favorite?
The Commando seemed incredibly strong and Iām personally not surprised it got a nerf. I think itās difficult to use in a 1v1 situation or when receiving fire in general, but it also has a wildly low TTK and a recoil pattern that can naturally lead to a headshot when shooting center mass (ala the AK in PUBG). Iāll probably still pick this up over the BR (although we start with BR in comp) when intending to provide support at range, but weāll see if this relatively small nerf will make me change my tune.
This is my confusion reading the replies as well. It seems to be an assumed correlation between full-auto and effective range. Although the de-scoping mechanics seem to outline the weaponsā role to be more comparable to the BR than the AR, I can understand the confusion.
We need to abuse this advantage of understanding at release while we can lol
It beats most of the sandbox at most ranges, skilled players will be dominant over other weapons not each other.
