It looks disgusting. they removed nearly all of it’s special effects and made it look like ribbons attached to your back. Although it’s nearly a guarantee that Halo 5’s would look amazing once released, I do hope that they go with the yellow/orange colour to it, rather than the blue we have seen recently in the Halo 5: Guardians previews.
The blue, to me, just looks far too weak, but the orange certainly fits more with the ‘maximum velocity’ tone similar looking to a UNSC Pelican. Though if they ever introduce the Sangheili into Matchmaking once again, then they should use the blue colour with them.
I prefer the condensed white-blue thrusters personally, and I suspect they toned down the effects in H4 because of too much “noise” (those flares would make certain everyone knew where you were).
Wouldn’t mind it being used as a warning that someone was attempting a ground pound or something, but I would rather not have a fireworks show every time I found an opponent.
On a side note, aren’t Iron Man’s propulsors/thrusters orange?

Yeah, I realised his thrusters are orange. I must’ve been thinking of someone/something else. Forget I said that.
But I do agree, it does look quite excessive, perhaps make it look more like this, maybe even replace the amount of sparks with a ‘heat wave’ effect like the falcon does in Reach (IIRC). That would be neat.
I know it’s a video game, however, scientifically speaking blue/white is hotter than orange/yellow. Therefore, the blue/white thruster would theoretically be more powerful.
I too quite like the light blue color. If they kept the color but added all the special effects stuff back into it, I think that’s be a pretty awesome design. Love the sparks; sad to not see them in the end product of Halo 4, fingers-crossed it’ll be in Guardians.

Sigh, maybe I’m thinking too much about it. I just want Spartans to look more like Spartans, you know? I may be alright if they just gave them a darker armour tone, rather than all of this glowing, power ranger nonsense.
I understand why I’m nit-picking about this now. The Spartans don’t feel heavy enough.
Quinn even said in the first look that a fully suited Spartan IV weighs 950 pounds. They clearly felt like this when we saw the beta teaser, but now they seem too light. The thrusters even sound weak, and don’t show enough bulky machinery opening and closing (again, like in the teaser when we get to see the ground pound; And that steamy effect would be a nice addition, too) to manifest just how much it takes to move nearly 500 kilos around at such extreme speeds.
