This is a question for 343i. with the specs on the Xbox One being way more powerful than the 360 is it now possible to produce GAMEPLAY visuals equal to the visuals in the Epilogue cinematic of Halo 4? If not how far away are we to producing that level of detail for gameplay graphics?
Close to it, if not there, I would imagine.
I think it will take a few years before we see gameplay visuals equivalent to that, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it happen with this next generation! I’d imagine the amount of work it would take to create a game engine with graphical detail to that extent would take quite a bit of time, but it’s certainly possible.
Well at the rate microsoft is going I wont even be playing it without and xbox one. it’s too bad cuz they had an amazing lineup of gorgeous looking games including halo 5

Well taking all the revealed games into account:
The lighting and high res textures in all the games- Halo will look glorious both far and up close. And the lighting will look natural and not bright.
The dynamic particles from Killer Instinct- Imagine those being integrated at least being integrated into Covenant weapons. They will finally behave like the plasma in the CGI cutscenes and give it that liquid like look that’s detailed in the books.
Tessellated water from Watch Dogs- YAY! We get a much improved version of our Halo 3 water! Say it’s not important but come on, look at levels like The Covenant then look at Forge World and Forge Island and say it doesn’t make a difference.
If the graphics tech looked as good as those epilogue cutscenes, then I wouldn’t even care if the graphics in later titles improved or not, that is essentially the epitome of top notch graphics tech for me. Shooting for 60FPS will make it harder to push for that target though.
Well who knows how long 343 has been working on Halo X1, or how long they’ve had dev kits for. But with the game coming out next year, thats not a huge amount of time for huge improvements. I expect the next Halo to be around the quality of Killzone Shadow Fall.
