Visualizing the Halo Universe

Hey everyone! I’m TDSpiral, and I’ve recently taken the reins on a Halo art project that was created by my friend, Postmortem. Originally created as an art contest on halo.bungie.org, I have recently expanded that scope of this project to include more communities and reach more Halo fans. Halo Waypoint seemed like a decent place to look!

Visualizing the Halo Universe started as an art contest designed to encourage artists of all kinds to come forth and share their unique visions of some of the least-seen aspects of the Halo universe. We absolutely do NOT care what skill-level you are at, we just want to see what ideas you can bring to the table. Just as long as you can provide a visual image that you created, you’re all good. You can read the original goals of the project here, and see what I have changed here. You can post your entries as a reply to this post (use a reliable image-hosting site like imgur), or use our submit artwork form!

Remember, feedback on artwork is appreciated and encouraged.

ROUND 21
Welcome back, VTHU! I’m your new host, TDSpiral, and today’s subject is one that I have a personal obsession with. With the release of Halo 5 next week, we’re going to be able to finally explore the warrior world, Sanghelios. Because we’ll be getting a chance to roam the ruins of old Sanghelios, I thought it was appropriate to choose an ancient Sangheili-themed subject.

Subject:
Ther ‘Vadam

Specifications:
Depict the historical Sangheili warrior either before or after his imprisonment.

Sources:
Halo: The Cole Protocol – pages 195-196

Details:
Ther ‘Vadam is the legendary ancestor to current leader of the Swords of Sanghelios, Thel ‘Vadam. Kaidon of the House of Vadam, Ther lost a brutal conflict to a rival faction, which left him dishonorably imprisoned in his own keep. Eventually, Ther was able to escape his cell by starving himself and fitting through the window bars with his emaciated frame. Building up his strength and recruiting new allies from bandits and outlaws in the Sangheili deserts, Ther was able to re-take the House of Vadam. Legend has it that the Vadam rivers ran purple with the blood of his usurpers for an entire week.

Ther executed any of the Vadam prisoners that were left, as he found their survival to be dishonorable.

Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with! Remember you have two weeks to submit your entries before the start of the next round.

And feel free to let your friends know about Visualizing the Halo Universe! The more people participate, the more great artwork we all get to enjoy!
