Hi peeps, while having to re-do all my settings every time I start the game it occurred to me that I have no real idea what the visual effects actually do?
Could somebody please explain what Chromatic Aberration, Bloom and Parallax actually does?
Never really been sure to have them on or off as no idea
Thankyou
Chromatic Aberration is a method that purposely causes a lens distortion. This is usually used for specific reasons like cinematic effects. For example when you turn towards the sun in-game and you get that sun glare on your screen with that rainbow shimmer around it. This effect allows certain light, like for instance bright sunshine, to over power your lens/screen like if you looked at the sun in real life. It’s an effect that adds some realism to the virtual world.
Parallax is a visual effect used to make far away objects appear to be moving more slowly compared to objects that are closer to you on screen. For example, when you look up high at an airplane soaring through the sky, it looks like it’s moving at a snail’s pace, but if you were way up there right next to it, it would be flying at around 500 mph. An in-game example is like when a player is running across your screen far away from you. It will appear like the player is moving kind of slowly until they get closer.
Bloom (for visual effects, not for gun accuracy) is a visual trick that is used to amplify the bright lights you see while playing incase your TV has a brightness limit. Neon signs, explosions, gun flashes, etc will appear slightly more brighter for dramatic effect. It also allows certain lights to overpower other light.
