I just thought it would be cool to have rain drops shown on you visor while your character is in raining environment. May be there might be one in campaign or a multiplayer map. Does anyone think it would be kinda cool or it does matter and no cares?
reminds me of the water that would form on your visor in metroid prime, such a cool effect
Sure. It’d be a nice little feature for campaign, but I’d rather these nifty effects stayed out of MM maps.
Hey. This would be a really awesome effect.
hm i dont really understand how would be bad im MM? if it would be in campaign why not in MM?
> hm i dont really understand how would be bad im MM? if it would be in campaign why not in MM?
Might distract people from the game and discourage competitive gaming, but its not like it would be pouring rain, a few drops wouldn’t hurt.
Maybe on the next Xbox. So this way it doesn’t take memory out of the game when it’ll be needed for MM.
> hm i dont really understand how would be bad im MM? if it would be in campaign why not in MM?
It might interfere with accuracy, etc. Maybe it would be cool in firefight, but putting it in regular multiplayer map would make a lot of people upset. I would love to see in in campaign, however.

I don’t think you realize how little memory that would take. Metroid Prime was able to do it fine and that was a Gamecube game. If snowflakes can fall and melt on Batman’s cape in Arkham CIty, this is easily doable.
i was also thinking may be some rain drops on a scope when and also when looking though, but so that it would interfere with accuracy, may be only a few or very small

MM is meant to be a competitive environment. Having rain drops fall on your visor and mess with your vision isn’t really fair, let alone competitive.
I think it sounds awesome and Metroid Prime is a great example. I honestly don’t think it would hurt the competitive aspect of the game. It would be subtle, and not happening all over the screen constantly. Plus, not all maps are meant to be MLG competitive. I think it would be awesome if 343 included some night time, foggy, rainy, low visibility maps. Reach had awesome rain effects, and it would make it more immersive if they added raindrops to the HUD occasionally.

I don’t see how it would be unfair if it’s something that affected everyone.
Ever since I played Metroid Prime in 2002 I remain baffled that so few games use such effects.

It affects everyone, but not at the same time and not in the same spot. Some unlucky SoB could be getting the majority of raindrops near the center of his FoV whilst another could be getting it mainly near the outer rims. One player has a slight advantage over the other, especially if the water distorts the picture. Regardless, it’ll be an annoying feature to anyone who wants to play competitively, I’d think. I’m all for atmospheric effects, like the snow on Lockout, but nothing that would be distracting. I feel rain falling on your visor would be too annoying. The flying trash on Boardwalk is bad enough.

Oh please, the trash on Boardwalk isn’t hurting anyone. It’s a nice visual and atmospheric effect.
I agree with you about the rain effect, though. It sounds cool for campaign, but keep it out of multiplayer.

You’d be surprised. It often floats near the edges of the ledge right at the back, which from your peripheral vision makes it look like a player. It’s not just me either, quite a few threads were made complaining about it. Anyway, it’s not that big of a problem, and you learn to ignore it for the most part, but it’s still annoying.

What about just Customs, then? Perhaps as a configurable FX where we can control the intensity and amount of the rain?
It’d be wonderful for setting the mood in less hardcore maps, i.e. Infection or Invasion.

this is a great idea and IMO would immerse the player more into the game
COMPETITIVE
To keep things fair since this is a game i think the effect on the visor should be the same for every player in areas exposed to rain/snow etc

They could easily make it so that it doesn’t really effect accuracy. Because I would love the feature to be utilized throughout the entire game
