Visible Ranks in Halo 4

Just wanted to say, a week in advance, that I think Halo 4 having invisible ranks is a poor move for the the most passionate and hardcore Halo 4 followers. The fact that the progression system is visible but skilled ranks are not, is defintly big hypocrisy. We love the game but visible skill, allows us to appreciate it to the most full effect.

I really want to see Halo 4 rewards its players for team work and common goals, not just credits. Visible skilled ranks were the best way to do this. People always put in their headsets in Halo 3, games were closer as people called out shots, hoping to win, to rank up.

A good comparison to the importance of ranks is a track and field athlete needs to check his stopwatch after every race to track his progress, for better or for worse. He also check’s his competitors times in order to get a perspective of how he relates to the competition and what he can do to continue to improve.

343 you have delivered at every turn but the you’ve upset the competitive community. All forums everywhere are complaining about this issue. People have the right to voice their concerns.

Please consider visible ranks, or at least split playlists into ranked and social, like on Halo 3. All the current polls have showed that people greatly favour the choice of ranked playlists.

Also remember that as fans of the franchise, we are the most passionate and most loyal. We buy Halo consoles, Limited Edition bundles, map packs, Dew XP, Halo branded merchandise, use waypoint reguarly and visit these forums daily to keep up to date with the news. We are instrumental in the game’s success. We spread the games popularity through word of mouth, friends, colleagues, associates, forums, therefore our satisfaction and support should be considered as valuable as the game itself.

Game went gold, dream all you want.

Agree why have a hidden rank for social part when in social i should be able to mess around a bit with out affecting true skill etc.
If i wanted to rank up and match players on my skill level then i would go and play a ranked playlist, but there seems to be none in Halo 4

Funny thing is, Many many more people boost for progression ranks than people who boost for skill based ranks…

Yeah just look at how Reach turned out. 1 way to earn exp to rank up in H4 is based on the medals we have earned etc, so say hello to a new generation of Grifball boosters or any other typ of boosting method.

Why does a visible rank matter if matches are going to be balanced? They improved the matchmaking system from what I heard so you’ll be matching against players of similar skill.

Grifball!! Lol I’ve never ever played that mode! I really hope that 343 will have the power and interest to put an end to any kind of boosting or cheating. But we have to remember that it will always be “gamer’s” that prefer 2 cheat/boost than rather do the right thing. Happy gaming guys

Visible ranks leads to excessive cheating. Look no further than Halo 3 if you want an example.

Don’t be mad at 343, be mad at the people who hacked/purchased/deranked to get their precious 50. Besides, it’s just a number by your name. Why is that so important to share with others?

Everytime I see one of these threads I must post and show my support. Hopefully 343 will help us out and give us what we want. Ranked playlist and social playlist for all!

Source?

Boosting is going to be in Halo either way. Just create ranked and social playlist to make everyone happy.

There’s always going to be crime.

But there’s a difference between Detroit circa RoboCop 1 and Moraltown, Any State, USA.

Seriously, they act like if they bring back ranked matches it’s gonna be H2 level cheating all over again. It’s not and while they’re at it they need to bring back clans and ranked leaderboards.

I can’t even say that if I cared about a Progression system I’d play COD, b/c BO2 is introducing ranked matches. Why is COD MP taking a step forward and Halo MP taking a step back?

no source needed its the truth anyone who has been around for the halo games will tell you social exp is easier to boost then ranks mostly because even if you are boosting ranks you still have to win and match random players where as progression ranks i can boost in campaign…

Game going gold has nothing to do with it. There is this thing called title updates and backend changes can be made all the time.

This sums it up. Winning needs to be the end goal. With hidden ranks it is not.

Methew you post in every topic opposing ranking and have clearly stated it is because you are bad at the game. I looked up your stats, in Halo 3 your highest level is a 30, but you have 1100+ experience. Which is why you couldn’t advance anymore, and those stats are horrible in my opinion. I have 600 exp with 45+ in 3 separate playlist, just saying. On halo reach you have over 47 days playing time, which puts you at the highest level, but look at your stats and you won 25% of your games, that is just terrible. You want to be able to reach the top without ranks because you are terrible at the game.

What am I meant to look at?

I’ve played over 7000 games of Halo 3 and can count on a single hand the amount of times I was cheated.

I’ve been cheated around 50 times in 4000 games of Reach.

So no, Ranks do not lead to cheating. The only thing that leads to cheating is letting cheaters cheat.

Please, do tell me how many 15,000+ user ban waves were carried out in Halo 3 for Boosting. That’s right, not once. It never happened. Halo 3 boosting and/or cheating was not rampant. It really did not happen anywhere near as much as some people claim.

Reach? I think estimates where close to 100,000 users being completely reset for cheating in one fashion or another.

I did not realise wanting a visible rank was a requirement for being passionate about the game. Ranking systems just lead to stat flaming. If you are good, it will show when you play.
