Visible rank or not?

Sorry I know theres a few excellent threads already concerning this. But I keep hearing/reading (not certain the credibility of the source) that 343 plans to finally make rank visible, for all of us crying out for it. Just would like to know if this is actually the truth? If so, pasting a link that says so would be amazing. Many thanks if anyone can help. Ive searched, found no such announcement. cheers

They have to make it visible. Even BLOPS II has copied the 1-50 ranking. HALO HAD THE 1-50 RANK SYSTEM 10 YEARS AGO…

I think it should stay invisible, personally.

If going off of the past (H2/H3) is any kind of indicator, a majority of players will become far too concerned with their silly 1-50 internet-wang and focus more on their own stats instead of things like winning games or working as a team.

Plus I’ve always thought the 1-50 system was a flawed metric anyway.

Do you realize what you’re saying? THIS CURRENT lack of ranking system encourages stat boosting, whilst the old 1-50 encourages team play and winning.

Hahaha what?

You have to win games to get the 1-50 rank up so how exactly does a 1-50 system keep players from trying to win or to work as a team. You have it backwards. A system that rewards players for simply playing the game give no incentive to work as a team or win. Just to pad your own stats.

343i stated before the game even came out that it has a 1-50 ranking system. I don’t remember which thread, but this ign article looks like it links it Halo 4 Getting Competitive Skill Rank System - IGN. Basically, right now a skill system is already in place, just invisible. At some point in the near future it will become visible. The idea (I assume) is, by making invisible at launch, it will build your record without you seeing it, limiting the number of people who boost to get it high early on, then when it is visible, it already has quite a bit of data that it is built on.

Visible in game NOT WAYPOINT.

How about every game you go to WayPoint to see how many kills and assists you had too?

In ranked matches more people used their mics. 1-50 encouraged teamwork and the only stat that mattered which was wins/losses, seeing you would actually rank down if you lost matches.

Unranked matches had more quitters, team killers for power weapons, stat padding and less incentive for winning.

If you’re going to make an argument against visible rank, don’t make up some -Yoink- reason from out of your -Yoink-, because in ranked matches people didn’t care about their personal stats. They cared about ranking up and the only way to rank is from winning, as a team.

i read the 1-50 is on visible on waypoint not in game. if so its pointless and its another reason to not play the game anymore

Many thanks to “WILL459”, This is exactly what I was looking for!!

Honestly,I cant figure out if the people in charge of making this game like to see the game succeed or not. When I first started playing halo I was young and just introduced to any first person shooter or xbox in general. The game was so popular and in success it was crazy. People loved to compete in halo and they loved to achieve a visible rank and to compete was the incentive. H2/3 became as big as they did because people loved the team work and the way you progressed by team. Halo Reach failed people lets face it…call of duty was on the rise and Bungie gave us Reach are you serious? 343 has done an amazing job with this game and really took this armor ability system and made it work but at the end of the day this game will fail if they dont open their eyes to what people are screaming in these forums to do and thats put the damn visible 1-50 ranking system back into play. Its your call 343

You must have NO idea how the 1-50 ranking systems worked for H2 and H3. You had to work together and not be selfish because the win was the only thing that mattered.

Right now, without ranks is when you see a lack of teamwork due to the fact that it really does not matter if you win or lose.

This game needs one, and if it’s only gonna be visible on Waypoint they might as well not bother at all. It needs to be in game, and I’ve yet to see a legitimate argument as to why it shouldn’t be there.

Visible 1-50 is needed, simply to encourage teamplay and discourage statwhoring.

Yes, but the rank that was announced is only visible on waypoint. So if you like to check your rank in between each match you need to take 10 minutes to load up waypoint, check your rank, and load Halo 4 up again.

It’s a inconvenience to have to load up waypoint to see your rank. When i’m playing with friends we like to see if we ranked up or not, and get into the next match immediately, not have to take 10 mins in between each match just to see.

If you play 6 matches and check your stats through waypoint, that’s an hour wasted of time, when you could of just quickly seen if you ranked up and got right into a match. Not everybody has a smartglass by their side.

You can’t be serious… 1-50 is based purely off wins/losses, so people want to win and work in teams 100000x more than in social games.

Well Im certain, lemme correct that, Im praying that they make the CSR (skill rank) visible on your service record (in game) at least!

Someone else brought it up, at least give us some facts/understanding as to why it is not visible or whats the hesitation to do so. Read an article way back when and Frank Conner stated that only 1% of the halo population actually care about rank…that cant bloody be right.

My only rational understanding on the topic is this: Lets face it Cod is more popular, thats a fact. Halo misguidedly(IMO) fears the visible ranking system caused too much competition, discouraged the general population from playing it. Cod operates on this stupid experience points ranking, which is nonsense, but it works for them, so be it. Halo should just learn to accept they are the silver medalist in popularity between the two, always will be. It wasnt the 1-50 ranking system that caused this, that system is made this franchise what it is. So going forward they should try to accommodate what so many of us are asking for, visible oldschool ranking. Stop trying to appeal to players who dont really play the game and start making it enjoyable for those who have ‘always’ played and loved the game.

Yeah, EXCEPT for the fact that the ONLY thing that mattered in the 1-50 system was WINNING.
