visible in-game CSR

CSR is great and is appreciated, but i think i speak for the majority of the competitive community when i say CSR needs to be visible in-game, not just on Waypoint. We like for people to be able to see what we have achieved, yes, but it is also nice to know who you’re up against and then play accordingly.

A BPR-like ranking would be shorthanded, in other words underutilized. Nobody wants to go on Waypoint to check not only others CSR, but their own CSR either. To put in perspective, having to take a moment between each game to check your CSR on waypoint would be very inconvenient. We need to instantly know if our CSR went up or down.

A visible CSR displayed by your Gamertag when in ranked playlists and lobbies, and your CSR on your service record for reference when in social playlists and lobbies. Just like Halo 3 had. Whether it’s 1-50 or other means of ranking. And it needs to be on the main page of your service record for quick reference. Having to swap through pages to see Arena ratings was annoying.

If you argue CSR displayed in-game would promote boosting, cheating, and selling of accounts, well you’re right, but that’s inevitable and there is always a ban system to help prevent cheating anyways. Regardless, the bigger picture is that visible rank gives an incentive to keep playing.

I’m fairly sure Waypoint is integrated into Halo 4, meaning the rank is already going to be in-game.

I’m not gonna even argue… just whatever. good nights guys

Some waypoint features, but not all. YOu still gotta go to your games on xbox and select waypoint and wait for it to lload all your friends details. takes forever. and even longer if you gotta search someone.

Why dont you change the title, so this doesnt get locked and we can continue to talk about it. Maybe use the word Motion.

No you don’t. There was a tab in Reach to go straight to Waypoint. I’m sure it will be at least that integrated. Hopefully you’ll be able to enter Waypoint from Halo 4, then go back to Halo 4 without having to restart the game from the dashboard.

Actually no, Waypoint will launch instantly from Halo 4’s menu. You do not have to dashboard, and once you are done, it will take you right back to Halo 4’s menu.

Here you go

Is there seriously another thread about this. I don’t understand how 343 has so much patience for all of these stupid demands. If you don’t like what they’re offering: DON’T BUY THE GAME. It’s really that simple.

343 have made a brilliant step in the right direction but we defintly need CSR in game eventually to please the whole comepetitive community and make this the best Halo experience since Halo 2-3.

This is typical of the community, there will always be those who are not happy and want more, I’m not attacking anyone or the community for that matter, but even back in the Bungie era the forums were like this.

343i are obviously trying new things, give it time.

People aren’t wanting MORE, they’re just wanting what they wanted in the first place. It was obvious that everyone had a proper, visible ranking system in mind when they said they wanted a ranking system.

they must be visible or its a wasted System imo & its funny how black ops2 gets a ranking system and h4 lacks one lol but i trust 343i will make them visible i woulndt understand why not??

Not only do I demand that we get ranks next to our names. I also want Jeff to announce my rank to everyone before each game. Arrows all over the screen pointing directly to my rank would be fine too. Just anything to let people know how good or bad I am. My rank shall be heard, seen, and forced down throats!

On a serious note I don’t agree or disagree. I’m not that great so I honestly don’t care too much about ranks showing in lobby. Either way if 343 is going to add ranks why make people jump through hoops to see them? I understand that they don’t want people to stat bash but still… their can’t possibly be any other reason to semi-hide ranks. Boosters gonna boost regardless of what style ranking system.

I think their anouncement is a good step in the right direction.

They are listening, but they are being careful. I can see why it isn’t in-game once it launches. And Waypoint can be accessed from the Halo 4 Main Menu.

343i wants to make sure they be careful with the CSR. Thry said they’re taking their time and releasing it a bit after launch because they want to analyze the data and know where the issues will be and potentially fix them before it’ll be publically released.
Then it goes to Waypoint, where they will track your skill for you to access and for it to be used in matches. Thry probably won’t start really considering in-game CSR until they’ve had some time with this, to test and get feedback. If they can support more in-game access, then they will consider it.

And to those saying Waypoint will make it horrible…
The CSR will be launching with the Waypoint update. This update goes for the site and other versions. It’ll mak eit much better, more navigable to use and stuff. A while ago bs angel commented that she liked the new layout. They released a trailer showcasing some of the updates too… it won’t be that bad.

I have a question for you, regarding this point specifically. You say it’s an incentive to keep playing. Once you hit the maximum rank, and it doesn’t fluctuate, or go any lower if you don’t play, where is the incentive? I will admit, I took a look at your H3 service record, what your actual number rank is, is irrelevant to the point, but it seems like once you got it, you stopped playing. Was there suddenly no incentive anymore? Or was it suddenly a case of “Welp, this looks like my peak, no reason to keep going, might as well lock in these bragging rights while I can”?

Would you be okay with a system where your maximum skill rank degrades if you don’t play in a specific list for a set period of time, and there are plenty of other people that DO play, and have proven themselves better than you, stat wise? Would you keep playing for your rank if you actually had to keep playing regularly to keep it? Or would you suddenly lose incentive because there is a risk your rank might go down and get handed to someone better who plays, and just say “Screw it” to the whole thing, much like what happened with Arena ranks resetting?

What will you do when you have a CSR of ‘50’ displayed on Waypoint, and there is no reason to ‘defend’ it? Where is the incentive then?

tl;dr : What happens to the carrot at the end of your stick, when you run out of carrot?

First off, i am 100% for having a ranking system with a number next to my name in-game.

So haven’t they announced that halo waypoint will be implemented into Halo 4? Like you can switch back and forth between each without having to go to the dash and reloading? If thats the case then we should be able to easily see our own rank.

Now it doesn’t mean that it will work while sitting in a pregame lobby and being able to see how your opponents and teammates match up with you which is not helpful imo…

BUT STILL! they actually listened and are trying in my opinion to have the ranking system without the bragging rights and reasons to boost and/or cheat and what not. I just hope they keep listening and see what is needed and keep improving the system.
