Violence, Blood and Gore...

'Kay, so how much gore do you actually (or you did actually) want in Halo 4? I’d like it if bullets and plasma left bullet holes and plasma burns in armour, or cracked a visor, and I’d like a more realistic amount of blood. What’s your view?

yeah I want more gore but not to point of adding it for the heck of it like in gears (and not as unrealistic as gears)

Well…there’s no way it should go Gears or Fallout crazy. But perhaps a bit more blood like blood stains on armour and cracking visors as you said.

Generally though, the Halo games aren’t about gore. I’d say the gore aspect shines quite a bit in the books.

Halo 4 generally looks more Gorey than Reach, have you not seen the blood pools that appear after you shoot someone with No shields?

Yeah it’s pretty gruesome.

And those assassinations…graphic…

Yup, they’re pretty brutal, especially with the crunch noises when you snap someone’s neck

Ouch man!

Wouldn’t it be cool if you could customize your assassinations?

Bullet holes/plasma scorches when you’re shot with no shields. Headshots to the visor should crack them.

Personally I think it’d be hilarious if you were gibbed when stuck by a plasma 'nade, leaving behind either your smouldering torso (stuck on legs), charred waist and legs (stuck on head) or your helmet, arms and legs (stuck on chest)…maybe that’d be going a bit overboard though.

when your visor cracks blood should flow out of it slowly at first

As much as the game benefits from it. If I can have realistic deformation and destruction of objects, I am fine with every sniper shot making a inch wide hole into my head. However, if it’s just for the sake of it, in other words, if the artist just decides to do simple model swapping to make it look like the bullet actually punctured the head, I see no reason to do it. After all, there is nothing my gameplay experience benefits from a scripted detachment of a limb. However, actual, calculated physical destruction and deformation is such a beautiful thing from a technical perspective that I’d accept it.

However, I really see no reason for gore outside of a physically realistic gameplay experience and that’s why I see no reason to add any more blood and gore to a game that isn’t capable to such calculations. In other words, I’m fine with the amount of gore Halo 4 currently has. It drives the point home that it’s war and that’s all there is. There is no reason for exaggeration.

Besides the Flood, I don’t think Halo should have gore.

Lol what???

I wish to have at least a reasonable amount of gore. So bullet holes with blood dripping out maybe? And when you get shot on the face by a rifle, say like on the visor, bullet holes are through there and blood is dripping out.

It would be hilarious if Halo had blood and gore like Gears of War, but it would be best to take some ideas from GoW gore system in my opinion.

That is an amazing idea! That would be so cool, like you could choose assasinations for normal, Jetpack, air and sprinting assassinations

Grunt brains all over, followed by along string of firecrackers.

i actually like it how it is, to much gore can be a distraction and nuesance.

As long as things about it like splitting visors don’t get to complicated it don’t matter to me.

Well there were plenty of threads like this already…
anyway…

I would actually be pro for more gore BUT!

no dismemberment or gross things…
I would be for things like… Headshot with a Sniper leaves a cracked Visor on the Corpse…
Shotgun kill throws the corspe back…
MINOR things that let the game look more realistic…

Realistic… blood?

Screw realistic. I want massive blood loss like in CE. It made explosions far more epic.

Do you know how lame it is to see explosions get all the glory? How disappointing it was in CEA’s new graphics to see barely any blood splatter?

This should be the case, not that.

P.s. someone should try clipping through the blast door at the end of AotCR using a Ghost, with Pinata and Mythic on, preferably on Legendary.

Melee all those inactive Covies, but try not to kill anyone (and give Elite shields time to recharge). Switch to classic mode. Open the door from outside (by getting back in the Ghost), toss a grenade. If I’m correct, you will see unprecedented carnage erupt. Keeping the Covies alive will make it a thousand times more enjoyable. Alternatively, kill them all then bring a few Hunters and detonate the grenade pile when they are on it.
