Viewership isn't everything but

Halo viewership is dying, and it’s dying fast…

I don’t think one game mode is going to save it. I really think people just find it boring to watch especially when kills are awarded with controller from missed shots.

Even tho people may not have liked Halo 5 it still put on a good show visually. HCS being something to watch rather than play there isn’t really much going on, on screen. Sure there might be cool plays here and there but the game slows down a lot. It takes a while to get to really exciting moments.

Couple that with low map count and the fact that the maps aren’t universally beloved some people just check out because it gets stale.

Also if you don’t compete there is very little reason to watch unless you really like a player or two. A lot of players admitted that they just keep the tab open to get the twitch awards.

Well yeah, Halo and arena games in general make for poor viewership figures most the time.

It was never gonna have a large twitch following.

MAYBE if Forge/Customs pop hard and are really inventive there could be a larger audience for it.

HCS viewership for their first event was a record high I believe.

Yeah because people wanted the drops - half of the event was sat looking at ads and loading screens because the games kept having issues.

People will watch Halo content. That’s for sure but when it comes to the HCS it’s strict. It took a very long time for forge maps to make it into HCS in halo 5. Everything pro play related will be judged heavily and probably not even be out in the line up. I would love for forge to make a big scene but it’s only ganna be watched by people who play with forge or play customs. A lot of competitive people don’t like forge in HCS either no matter how good the map is

Yeah I mean for casual play, like party games with people with streamable personalities.

When it comes to that I’m sure it’ll thrive but probably not as much. Halo 5s forge is pretty capable and even that didn’t draw in to many players watching. In my experience people watched high ranking players and maybe some scrims. Other than that I never really see people watching forge/custom game stuff. I know I wouldn’t watch it because I’ll be playing it. If anything the people who would watch that stuff would be playing it. The streams for forge testing did well tho. Whenever big names tested out their maps they had people watching

Yeah they’d need to have something really fun and accessible.
