Could care less about good visuals, at this point just want to get this game running smoothly. I have all my settings on low and it still doesn’t feel right.
I’ve looked around and haven’t found anything good on YouTube or via Google. I was watching some twitch last night and their games look so different than mine in terms of smoothness and fps.
Their Pc specs aren’t much better than mine so I’m wondering what I’m missing.
I play a lot of fps games and am usually pretty good at being able to optimize the best settings myself but infinite has me scratching my head so far.
Here are my specs if curious
Benq 244hz monitor
Samsung 960 pro m2 SSD
Gtx 1080
Intel i7-7700K
32 GB of Ram (4 x 8 gb Gskill ripjaws v)
What happens when you put everything on low and drop resolution scale to 50%?
I’d try that and then scale up settings from there to your desired mix of visuals/performance.
If you drop everything to low with 50% resolution and your performance is still choppy, it could be a software conflict (I know the tech previews had problems with RTSS overlays), or it could be a sign that your CPU just isn’t strong enough to run the game smoothly.
Did you remove the min/max framerate?
Are you running the new NVIDIA Halo specific driver?
Turn off the Hi-Res Texture Pack, that helped me some.
Setting the game to uncapped fps works decently as well and causes way less stutters
I removed the DLC and lowered res to 75%. Getting about 30 more fps. Still feels a little off but definitely better.
I’m gonna be honest with you. The video settings do absolutely nothing regarding performance.
I’m only getting 70fps on my 6700xt so I dropped it from Ultra to High. Same fps. I dropped it to medium. I gained a variable of 5-10fps.
It seems lowering the video settings just makes the game look worse and doesn’t really affect performance (which is strange).
Something’s amiss here. The game is VERY intensive on hardware, except it never fully utilizes the GPU. Not digging on the graphics, they’re fine, but there’s much better looking games I run in the 120-170fps range. Heck, I get a better frame rate on Assassin’s Creed.
It’s improved since the flight, but there’s some optimization issues going on somewhere.

It’s a complete CPU and GPU hog. There is nothing in Infinite that justifies how much resources it demands.
Looks like time someone to upgrade
I agree that performance seems a bit lackluster for the visuals on offer. The biggest problem is that it does not appear to scale well by reducing settings. Only dropping resolution appears to significantly improve framerates in GPU-bound scenarios.
I’m running ultra settings 5120x1440 with 50% resolution scale and getting 140-220fps depending on map/mode with a 9900k/3090.
Id much rather run 100% resolution scale low/medium settings to try for 240fps, but the scaling/optimization just isn’t there.

Exactly my observation as well. Settings have little no impact on performance. I’ve resorted to using the dynamic resolution setting to ensure smoothness.
