Hey guys, I just found this gold grenade while messing about on Composer. Can anyone tell me what it means? Is it some kind of 343 in-joke perhaps? Thanks.

sounds like a subtle reference to the planet Requiem in there.

Maybe you have to save it and throw it somewhere specific? Who knows.
Maybe it’s part of a bigger Easter egg and you need the golden grenade… just a thought.

My god, you’re right! Some of the staff at 343 must be Monty Python fans, which makes them even more awesome!

Thats the first thing I thought. If this was bungie, it wouldn’t be surprising if it was a little rabbit trail.
MAYBE there is a “rabbit trail” so to speak.
In the Monty Python Video they do throw it at a viscious rabbit.
Maybe we should be looking for something like a hidden rabbit to kill or a cave near the composer where a rabbit might be.
That seems to be my only idea of where this easter egg might lead if it does lead somewhere.
EDIT: we should also keep at eye out for other hints or clues from monty Python.
lol maybe there is a Promethian Knight who says “it’s only a Flesh wound.”, just like the dark knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. That would be awesome. After all they do have the IWHBYD skull that enables unique Dialogue.

That would require you to carry the grenade for awhile. In fact through several missions. It could be possible for the pulse grenade to be replaced with a golden grenade.
Someone could try it but they should test it out by throwing the grenade at the beginning of the last mission just to see if they still have it.

Been to that same spot and havent seen a gold grenade. My thoughts are its a simple color glitch. Look at the crack in the floor and look at the grenade. They are almost the exact same color.
It’s most likely a lighting glitch. There’s some shiny fluid (?) under the floor. It happened with an Elite corpse during my playthrough. It was exactly the same color as the grenade on OP’s video.
@The OP, what difficulty was it on, any specific skulls enabled? Perhaps those who don’t see it (I can’t check right now, work) will be able to find it only under certain circumstances.
I remember playing that level, that corner, there was not golden grenades.
Its a lighting bug.

I was playing on Easy difficulty with no skulls. I started from Rally Point Bravo. I don’t think it’s a lighting glitch because when you throw the grenade it is STILL gold.
It’s really interesting to me that it’s not there when other people try. I’ll give it another go, see if it’s still there after I’ve turned my Xbox off.

Weapons get reset in-between levels. Plus, like someone else said, I think this is just a lighting/texture bug.
