Hey guys, I only just discovered this airlock thing last night. Would you consider it an Easter Egg? If not, what exactly would you call it? Thanks.
a funny piece of gameplay?
an easter egg is a reference to another game/movie/something. this doesn’t really remind me of anything.
Buttons that do things to interact with the environment are not easter eggs.
Not an easter egg, but pretty freaking funny.

Except the ones that create flying vehicles
I wouldn’t call it an E Egg but it is a cool bit of object interaction… thanks for sharing cos I had completely missed that opportunity when I played the campaign.

I completely missed it too on my first play through. I only discovered it last might while messing about on easy difficulty. Glad I could be of help!
I wouldn’t call that an easter egg… more like a novel interaction with the environment to level the playing field on harder difficulties… mind you I didn’t spot it while I was tearing through the game on Heroic… good find.

Yea it was super handy on legendary. Clear the room real fast then just open the airlocks before they can shuffle into the room.

An easter egg is anything the developers intentionally hid for you to find. It doesn’t need to be a reference. For instance, jokes Bungie put in like the hidden grunts that say funny things, or the RvB door on Crows Nest in h3.
Would have saved me a lot of ammo if I knew this for my legendary run.
And I’m leaning more towards easter egg on this one, because the grunts even have animations of banging on the glass and grabbing onto the floor before getting sucked out. The switch also isn’t pointed out to you or referenced, so it could still be an egg.
This isn’t an Easter egg. Just something funny and useful for harder difficulties. I didn’t manage to do this on my legendary play through. That first elite took too many bullets to kill.
I always thought that was the objective, but I guess I was wrong. Very cool.
I saw this my first run through.
The only time where button pushing wasn’t a bad thing.
I was stuck at that part for the longest time because the enemies just kept coming and I didn’t have any ammo. But once I discovered that, completely by accident…things got fun real fast!
Tip: If you’re having trouble getting there in time because of the elite and other guys already there, I placed an auto sentry and used it as a distraction to sprint over to the airlocks. One down there, you have a fair amount of cover.
