I for one, like to point out that with the way Halo is going, I was at first very skeptical about the direction but after playing Halo 3 for alittle while, I came to realize that everyone is complaining over nothing. Veterans cant even accept a game that for one has changed, not from the core but in a more different look and feel because of the new adjustments added to the game. Sure the veterans want a true skill ranking system, sure they want slow movements and better maps, and of course wanting the BR being the most used precision weapon out there aside from the DMR.
I took a long time and thought about this series. Sure CoD could have the same formula again and again but they are slightly changing the game itself and not the core of the game. To some, that looks like the same old game over and over again. With Halo things jumped drastically with some thinking it didnt keep to the core but in reality it did. Halo 3 never based people around K/D, it NEVER had a K/D ratio in game but a ranking system that put players against each other with similar skill which overall removed the feel of having a K/D in the first place. You simply played for the Objective and not your stupid K/D score. I for one approve the newer changes but in the end they need to be better changes. There is nothing wrong with Armor Abilities, nothing at all. If you want to play Classic then by all means play a Classic Playlist that for one, benefits to those that are in love with the more classic feel rather than the newer stuff. People cant dislike and like all they want, but I want to point out this isnt CoD.
Starting on even grounds and fighting for power weapons is a good way to test your skill against other players, while trying to improve your own. With the Armor Abilities, those allowed us to think a little more clearer on how to approach the enemy. If you were able to run from the enemy, barely surviving, that gives you another chance to rethink on how you will take down the enemy and of course if you die you learn that the better player walks out alive while the other respawns. Catering to both sides would be a little hard for 343i to implement but I dont find it impossible. If people want classic give those people a classic playlist with maps that would fit the feel of gameplay and overall progression rather than giving them something that doesnt fit.
With those with the Armor Abilities and with Sprint and so on, make maps in regards to those settings as well. Of course with these there would be a Competitive and Social playlist in each. Competitive tracking skill and earning EXP while Casual gaining EXP but skill is not tracked. Thats way people could enjoy a game to play and have fun while the competitive players are at each others throats killing and earning their hard earn skills. The in game ranking system would obviously show and track skill with an emblem stating there current stand point and in Casual just showing the emblem from Recruit to General 5 star.
I have played Halo since CE was brought to PC and I enjoyed it very much because of the music and gameplay, along with the sci-fi feel to it rather than a common FPS that is of modern times. This isnt CoD, its Halo and its going to change but in the end some things are meant to stay the same while some are meant for some change. In the end I can see clearly on what 343i is trying to do, just because you veterans cant stand change you have to understand that 343i is not Bungie and that it takes time to implement things into a game. So with the way things are going we need to stat strong with 343 and hope that they will indeed learn from their mistakes and bring what made Halo great but in a better form rather than having it be similar to another modernized FPS.
a ranked visible CSR playlist. the csr is only visible when in a lobby of this playlist or while playing. not visible anywhere else. 1-50 or 1-100
a social playlist that welcomes social players and guests.
3 SPARTAN BOOTCAMP. a playlist which everyone must go through at the start of their matchmaking career. encourages new players and helps them learn the ropes.
CSR should also be visible in this playlist the goal would be to reach a maximum CSR of 10 or so. before they are forced into the general population.
i have no problem with “CHANGE” But nobody should be singled out. with just these three playlist you can accomodate everyone. there is still much room for ideas in and out of matchmaking that doesnt have to affect how certain grouos feel about the game.
Yes I agree and so the question would run to should Armor Abilities stay or remove them with the return of Equipment? I say equipment should return with possible newer ones. If not them add both along with flame grenades and spike grenades, missle pod, flamethrower and all of the brute weapons as well.
I was thinking that players can spawn with an AA or pick it up (depending on the strength) but only give it limited uses. Like…three good thrusts, or 60 seconds of camo, a strong autoturret, deployable cover, etc.
As I’ve said a million times before: Halo 2 and 3 had changes from CE.
I have no problem with change in halo games. CE,2 and 3 I all loved. I never once complained about anything in those games. It’s bad change like reach and Halo 4 I don’t like.

No i understand where you are going with the change through your POV and probably others as well but thing is WILL Halo return to those times, to me I highly doubt it. Equipment was amazing and AA are a ok thing just Sprint would be the only thing I would keep other than that everything else can go, we dont need a jetpack, thats why man cannon are there for, we dont need a Hardlight shield because we have a Bubble Shield and Deployable Cover.
I to dont mind change if done correctly of course.
Also what was so bad about Reach please elaborate in further detail I must know.

I liked Reach, but it did start all of this armor ability nonsense and injected randomness into Halo, randomness it didn’t need. Why 343i did not build off of Halo 3 I’ll never know.
I am an older fan who has enjoyed every game the same. I am fine with innovation, i approach every game as a new game rather than a continuation. It keeps expectations low so that am not disappointed in one particular facet.
Now, i am not saying that the current title us flawless, in fact i would have liked to have seen some of the elements from other titles incorporated rather than building solely off the reach engine.
I have never played a single cod game so i cant use that as a comparing benchmark. I have hopes for halo 5 as i am sure most of you do as well.
In closing if you take the game for what it is. Its not entirely awful.
I agree. I have been a major fan since the beginning and it is good to see that 343 has given us some change to keep the Halo experience fresh. Ever since release, Halo 4 has blown my expectations out of the water! I could care less if I am an SR 130. I could care less what the haters think. I could care less that the population is lower than anticipated. I will play Halo 4 until the day 343 releases Halo 5. Long live Halo! Long live 343!

Agreed, weapons are less specialized. A DMR = anti-everything. In halo 3, there was the rocket launcher and misile pod, this was ideal but they were merged.
(i understand that H2 had lock on rockets, but just cos it was in H2 doesn’t mean it = perfect)
There needs to be more pick up in game and this can be done through making weapons more specific to their purpose.
I’m suprised by the lack of balance period in Halo 4. Halo 5 doesn’t need to have “lucky ordinance drops” to give players the upper hand. I found that to be the biggest mistake since armor lock and this makes armor lock look minor.
Power weapons that control the map should be pick up items and fought over for map control. In any case you should just get more ammo if they want to keep ordinance drops maybe a single unique item. I think it’s very repulsive that a player only getting assists can get a sniper, fuel rod, scatter shot and rocket launcher. I feel like im always playing action sack in BTB and Slayer. I’m not sure if 343 thinks that skill but they need a different and logical approach for change.
With the playlists I use to love I sharply disgust in Halo 4.
