This message may not be received and probably not be considered, but I will ask for my fellow Halo fans to help me achieve this. I would like to address the issue with the shortage of maps in matchmaking. It is not very exciting to play on two or three over-played maps. I do not say that these maps are bad, but are not fun to play repetitively. I think that you should show your fans how much you really care for our support. We should receive a gift for our full on support for Halo no matter what. This is why for us veteran Halo players we should receive a free Throwback Map Pack. After all a gift is free right? This free pack should show us that although Halo is new and is changing, it will always be the Halo we love. In this jump back in time we should receive a map from each past competitive first person halo title. The most favored map from Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo: Reach. This may take some work but we have seen you pull off more amazing feats than this. I am sure your community will thank all of you and Certain Affinity for the effort. If this message does reach you please consider this if enough of your followers agree. Thank you for all you do, for making Halo 4, and continuing to better our experience. To everyone who reads this. I know it is pretty foolish to ask this for free. I am just asking this to address what I feel is a problem in matchmaking. I may just be speaking for myself, but I would like to have the greatest possibility to play the DLC maps in the non-DLC playlists. Some may not have this problem but even some of my friends do not have the maps and a load of people who I play with in matchmaking do not have the maps. This makes it hard for me to play these maps. If it was free then we would almost never have this problem. It would be like the Cold Storage Map from Halo 3. The only twist is that these maps are already thought out and there would be about 4 maps of course. I know some of you may believe this is somewhat idiotic and rash, but who doesn’t want this? Even if you don’t agree with it fully, wouldn’t you like some classic favorites? It doesn’t have to be free for us to be content with it. I also correct my statement above for people coming back to this topic. 343 does not owe us anything, but I would like them to show us that they still recognize that they have players who have been here from the start. I want them to show us that they are still making Halo. It will be a new Halo but I want them to say “This is still the Halo you know. Here is a reminder of that. Thank for staying with Halo after we took over.” For the newcomers, they will also get to see what it was like for us back in the day and share some new moments with us while recognizing a piece of Halo history.

Think about re polished versions of Danger Canyon, Infinity, Sidewinder, maybe Gephyryphobia?
From Halo 2 we should get Gemini, Ivory Tower (Again I know we had it in reach but I would love it in halo 4) and we should get an actual remake of Lockout instead of the user created, also Turf would be cool as well as Zanzibar.
We already have Ragnarok from Halo 3 so we could also get Epitaph which was a good small level, Gaurdian would be a good addition, we should get Heretic, and last but not least The Pit.
As far as Reach goes I mainly played for the remakes of older maps anyway there weren’t too many from Reach that left a lasting impression, except for infection on Boardwalk.
I think this would be an awesome idea and we would have to weed out some of the maps of course but these would be a nice start
I second this as well, I don’t really consider myself a Halo veteran (with my first Halo game being ODST) but it would be a great move to gain back some of the community on 343’s part.
That would be great, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon. 343 still needs to fix all those balancing issues first. Not to mention the new upcoming TU and ranking system will take time to create then perfect. I think they have released a fair share of maps over the last months, so creating new maps won’t be their priority for awhile. It’s a great idea though OP, and I would be thrilled to see it happen.

LOl 343 will not re-create anything Bungie did even if Bungie did it well. They have this stuck up “We are different” motto so we all know they won’t do this.

YES, even if we have to pay something like 400 -Yoink!- points its cheaper and there not loosing out and itll most definatly bring more players back make people play it more, BF’s new map pack has just come out and there numbers in population has just sky rocketed, there last map pack for the game and its AMAZING!! halo 4 needs this jump, they need a map pack that goes almost back to the core to bring back the old maps, and they should have a playlist called (Veteren classics) No sprint just start with AR and Magnums 2 frags, weapons around the map, no ordanance drops, BTB version has CTF, KOTH, Team Slayer etc, take it to the core and not only can they have the maps in the map pack but also remakes that people have made aslong as there good!!
They dont owe us anything free. They dont owe us more maps at 0 cost. I dont find a lack of maps at all, I have both current map packs.
At the end of halo 2’s run they had 25 maps out for it. That was by the end of its run, not 5 or 6 months in.
Halo 4 currently has 19 maps and we are not even past the 1 year mark.
I suggest you buy the currently released map packs if you havent already, and if you have not bought those map packs you have no room to complain about a lack of maps in the first place.

WRONG they absolutely need to do something like this to get some of the population back they lost. Matchmaking is a joke right now due to low population.
AFTER they get the game balanced and working properly they 100% need to do something big PR - heavily advertised & FREE to get people to pick up H4 and stick it back in their xbox’s, they need to show that they can make a good halo game - that Halo 5 will be awesome because they can make Halo 4 awesome (in the end) and the next-gen Xbox will be worth the investment because right now based on what we’re playing many will not be buying H5 let alone a 720 if Halo was the only exclusive -Yoink!- had that they liked.

I have the Map Pass but the reason I think it should be free is because we cannot play on the maps in standard playlists unless everyone has that map. Therefore in order to actually be able to play these maps in matchmaking frequently, it would need to be free so that everyone has a chance to play it. I personally don’t like having to go into a whole other under played playlist to play these maps. Thank you for stating your opinion.
I see no difference between the two. Both of the threads want a map pack with remakes from other Halo games. The only difference is this calls it a “Veteran” map pack to make it seem more elite.
Thank you for the help but I personally am glad he came and said that. This means that people already want this and have been thinking about this. 343 Industries may not do this but just maybe they will. It would take unwanted effort upon Certain Affinity, but in the end I think they want to supply to the community. If enough people want this they may do it. We talk. They listen. Just look at all the things we said we wanted and they gave to us. In the end they may create the game but we can still mold it for the way we want to experience it. All it takes is a little sophistication, and a little determination.
I agree with this. Though 343 probably won’t do it seeing classic maps would be great and even if not a classics map pack for free maybe add new maps playable for the public or at the very least make complex not an option. And a non of the above option would be nice too. If they would do the classics map pack, from reach i would definitely want to see sword base and reflection.
