Veteran Halo Players No Longer Have a Skill Gap

I have no idea why there is not the same skill gap in every other halo game! I’m I’m veteran halo player from halo 1 when I was 15 and I get destroyed in FFA. All of a sudden EVERYBODY is a pro now! You can’t go from fight to fight like you used to! Annoying! You have to sit and recharge shields because it feels like everyone has a 80%+ accuracy now!

Yeah i play on pc but i use a controller and these k&M players are insane with their aim and how quickly they can react. Like fighting someone only for them to turn 180 degrees in a frame is extremely annoying and just frustrating to look at. Almost breaks immersion for me

I think they use a background ranking system to keep everything even. But I think it’s too struck, it’s hard to find fun games these days in anything.

Yeah the problem is the extremely strict matchmaking. They should at least in social have some flexibility so you can play better and worse players. It’s really not fun playing clones of yourself 24/7, the game gets REALLY stale.

Probably doesn’t help that there’s YouTubers posting tips and tricks about Halo, as well as the additional mechanics being utilized in ways that weren’t in past Halos to replicate the movement mechanics. If you’re a great Halo 3 player, and don’t know the sliding tricks and what not, high chance they know alot more than you cause of YouTube.

Opposite for me, dumping a full mag just to pop shields, but getting instakilled by controller players, but that’s probably netcode issues, like getting one punched at full shields. People turn around extremely slow like I’m tickling them with the AR, and one shot me.

You can thank SBMM in what is supposed to be social. The only difference between Ranked and Social is that you can see your rank, but both have SBMM for some reason.

On paper SBMM is great, but in practice it doesn’t work.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels like this. Half the time while I play, I’m like “everyone is a gawd-damn pro in this game… WTH!”

I kind of felt the same in my brief time playing Halo 5

Anyway, I used to carry (especially in HCE and Halo 2, the original editions) and occasionally in H3. But, now I’m just hoping I have someone on my team to carry, cause I’m losing most games if not, lmao

H5 was the same way. It is a double edged sword….

On one hand having balanced games fighting players at your skill level is a good thing obviously.

However, I also enjoy struggling against better players (you learn a lot) and beating up on worse players (you feel good at the game). Rarely having that opportunity is lame.
