After watching the promethean weapons video, the Binary Riffle looks gorgeous but seriously…I don’t understand why it is a one shot kill, it seems definetly overpowered to me. I mean, damn its a -Yoinking!- sniper! You can one shot kill at ANY range!!! How is that balanced!? How bad would it be to die because some noobs shooted you in the foot across the map!!
Yeah yeah… I see some of you saying that there is only 2 bullets per mag… but It just doesn’t compensate the one shot kill…
Plus, the reticule seems to be big and easy to aim/shoot with.
Here is a list of all the one shot kill weapons and why they are balanced:
Boltshot, hammer,Shotguns and sword : you need to be VERY close to kill.
All rockets(the incineration canon seems overpower IMO): Slow bullet velocity.
Sniper riffle and Beam riffle: It take skill to headshot to one shot kill.
Binary Riffle?: one shot kill anywhere in the body? Doesn’t take skill…seems pretty unbalanced to me sorry.
It’s supposed to be nearly impossible to no scope with, as well as having ‘laser sight’ indicators to where you are aiming from.(Think spartan laser charge but more obvious)
EDIT Also supposed to be a very rare weapon drop, don’t expect to see this in every game.
Yeah, there’s a huge spread when you no-scope, similar to some Call of Duty snipers (please don’t kill me). Also, when you zoom in, there’s an easy-to-spot laser beam that point where you are pointing.
If you listened to the sparkcast, they explain how it’s very balanced.
Pros:
-One shot kill
Cons:
-2 bullets per magazine
-Only comes with 6 shots of ammo
-Firing from the hip is nearly impossible, due to a huge reticule. So it’s only uselful scoped in.
-It makes a lot of noise, easily heard from across map
-It has a bit of a laser sight to it much like the Spartan Laser does, so you will know when someone has you in their sights, giving you a chance to run, shield, or thruster pack etc.
So yeah…seems quite balanced to me considering the attributes of the other snipers.

Ah, yes. I can imagine me getting my ordnance drop, and some -Yoink!- across the damn map killing me. Oh the pain. I pray that it’ll have some sort of significant drawback to the player.
Did you miss the part where it has two shots in a clip, a long reload time, gives off bright laser sights when scoped, and is very difficult to aim out of scope?
It won’t be overpowered. A one hit kill in the right hands, but anyone who just picked it uo for the first time will find themselves reloading more often than killing.
Big reticle for a sniper is a bad thing for it, makes it harder to aim. A big reticle would be balancing it, because it would be much harder to judge if you’re on target.
Easy to aim and shoot? If you miss, you’re reloading. You can barely hit anything out of scope. I don’t call that easy to kill with. A newbie can’t pick it up and go on a killing spree unless the enemies are just standing still.
Of course, you’re right! It totally doesn’t take any skill to conserve your shots, hit the body accurately, and you have to always been in scope! /sarcasm.
Its not that bad. A newbie won’t go on a killing spree with it, they’ll be reloading after missing two shots and will fail when trying to no scope up close thinking it’ll be easy with 1 shot kill.
The blatant laser emanating from the front of it allows you to see where the user is aiming, no matter where you are on the map. In Reach, when you know the Sniper is looking at you, its not hard to dodge his shots. If you know exactly where the BiRi user is looking, it’s not hard to just stay out of his way and take cover. A lot.

You mean like obvious laser sights, low total ammo, low clip size, and horrible hip fire?
