Very very opening scene with Halsey

Am I missing something she states to Locke after all we have done they will order you to kill us both. Should I know that or is anyone else confused ? Will it be explored in the future ?

The speech is set in the current timeline but the scene seems to be from reach from what i can tell? She was putting cortana into that Container for Noble Six. Oh and to answer your question i think its because of the mission killing master chief originally they declared him dead. so oni would want all links to chiefs death dead i would imagine.

Nope. She has a picture of Miranda Keyes at the time she attended the medal ceremony at the beginning of Halo which indicates that this scene takes place at some point after.

You can’t tell if its definitively the medal ceremony it could of been her passing out parade for example. Why else would she have cortana.

Which means this scene takes place sometime between October 2552 (The time of Miranda Keyes ceremony) and March 2553 (Doctor Halsey Arrest)

Oh for god sakes, it takes place on Reach between the time Cortana is created and the time she is given to Chief. The picture of Miranda was a nod/Easter Egg to Halsey’s relationship to Miranda. Nothing more.

As for the whole reason of the prologue, it makes zero sense. In no way was Halsey’s speech actually related to what was going on. It was supposed to throw the player off through the whole “master chief is a traitor” spiel that the “Hunt” advertisements gave us.

Literally this.

It’s set during the time Noble team are defending Halsey’s lab in Halo: Reach. The picture is just a nice nod.

Yeah not seeing it. Halsey was a younger In reach, nothing in the games follows the thread of the advertisement campaign and there’s every chance it could be setup for plot in the sixth game! So for the moment I’m gonna keep an open mind on its meaning.

Yeah I don’t know, Halo 5s campaign was very weird and confused sometimes. That whole scene at the beginning might as well have been absent from the game…I don’t think it really added anything to the game. I would have rather got a proper introduction to team Osiris or a scene explaining how chief got reunited with blue team all of a sudden.

Between the story telling in Halo 5 and Destiny, I am about to give up on story in videogames any more. My two favorite developers are creating amazing games gameplay wise but the complete lack of story is atrocious.

Yeah, I was kind of dissapointed when irrational games went defunct. Haven’t played a game quite as gnarly as Bioshock Infinite before or since. Halo games haven’t always had the greatest storytelling. But at least they made sense or had memorable events/acts throughout…H5 would have been better if the marketing campaign and hunt for truth didn’t paint a bigger/better idea than what we received.

Halsey was only six years younger at the time of Reach, which, at her age, there isn’t much of a difference in physical appearance. So it makes complete sense that the scene takes place during the time that Noble team are defending her lab.

She was six years younger and even then she was sixty.

Halsey has both her arms in this cutscene, so it has to take place at least before the events of Halo 4’s Spartan Ops. Based on the fact that the lab appears to be underground, I’d wager this is just Halo Reach. Side note: she even places her journal that was included in the Halo Reach Limited Edition onto the table at the beginning of the scene

Please don’t revive old topics. Thanks.
