You can hijack Wraiths.
Yes, that’s right. That’s why you’ve seen people crouched on top of them. No, they’re not partying with the turret gunner. They’re trying to hijack it. All you have to do is kill the turret gunner and hop in the gunner seat, and the driver will jump out.
Simple, right? How about you try it next time instead of boarding the Wraith I’m trying to take and grenading it? It makes it easier, I promise.
I got the same problem here. I tried it out in the Reach campaign once when I killed the gunner and was amazed when the driver hopped out. When Halo 4 came out, I tried it out in the first SPOPs mission to see if it still worked, but every now and then I’ll some f***er blow it up “for the lulz”.
That was one of the main reasons I loved Limited Firefight on Reach. The Ai kept the other players too preoccupied for them to try to blow up my jacked Wraith. I would sit on the backside of BeachHead and pound the snot out of the Drop Ships and anything that jumped out with it. Now it’s futile to even consider jacking a wraith. Why have XBL players taken on this screw everyone attitude?
I think I hear the world’s smallest violin playing somewhere. I thought I’ve read every complaint imaginable on this forum till I came upon this. Stop killing the wraiths? LOL.
This happened even in Reach. Take the time to hijack a Wraith in Firefight, someone will notice, get jealous and think you’re trying to steal his kills and scores, blow you up with his Rocket Launcher he spawns with while you spend the majority of your time trying to get away from him.
Thanks for the tip, I was using a different method on legendary solo that was kind of hit or miss which involves damaging the wraith. This is way better.
It is annoying though when people are shooting any vehicle you a jacking. Happens a lot in mm aswell, even though I’m screaming down the mic to stop shooting.
Didnt know one could hijack a wrath, and thats the key to obtaing and keeping one in S.O.
So grab 3 friends, tell them the plan and see what ya can do. 4 players all shooting the gunner from various locals would make it easier to accomplish.
Who knows, 343 might even reward players with 100,000 xp for jacking the first wrath in the campaign, and finishing said campaign w/o loosing it. in that way no one would be dead set on destroying it.

That’s what my brother and I will do on Spartan Ops, (Doesn’t play multiplayer SOps), Shoot the gunner out, beat on the latch that covers the head of the elite operating the wraith, and kill the elite inside of it. Perfect condition wraith on legendary for the win.

You’re just finding this out? Did you know you can also jack Banshees? Try it on Ep3/Ch4 (Spartan Mountain) Just EMP one with a plasma pistol and jack it. Then shoot down all those Banshees and Phantoms with a Banshee instead of a Mantis.
Anyway, it’s cool to find this stuff out on your own. There’s lots more to find in Spartan Ops, you just need to know where to look and patience is the “key”.
