Very cool, I finally climbed to 1600 and 343 decide to shut down the servers. I really like the part where it counts as if I quit the game and gives me a loss and the leaver penalty. Very cool 343, keep it up! I wonder why the playerbase already dropped by half!
It was Steam servers that crashed. It went completely down. Players on PC GamePass/Xbox app didn’t get kicked.
A game that relies on my XBOX login for tracking should not crash Steam connections when Steam goes offline or fails to validate.
Even games like TF2, which rely on the Steam network don’t disconnect players from servers when Steam goes down.
Ah… that makes it so much more under my control?
If the server crashes, they should use their brains and not give out losses. Especially since it’s not client side.
the fact is they don’t know that you left because of something out of your control
I can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not, but it’s very easy for a host to tell when connection losses are a result of their system.
I do it on the daily with my own.
so your system tells you exactly why a user disconnect? like from power failure, internet loss, server disconnection etc?
I’m 100% certain that 343 can know which game made by 343 has it’s servers go down. They definitely have tracking on that, they just don’t want to use it because it takes resources from the cash shop.
but it wasn’t 343’s servers that went down it was steams
Yes, they can also track the status of the servers they rent, since they are paying for them.
n…no its the servers that steam uses to, I assume, check to see if someone actually owns something
Read my post better.
Same system. One game has a proper solution, one game doesn’t. One game came out years ago, one isn’t out yet and had years to be developed.
I’m a developer. If AWS goes down I know and handle it. I don’t work for Amazon nor own AWS. Simple solutions, 343I failed to handle it.
The steam client crashed not the steam servers.
Nope, the steam client was still up and didn’t close. The steam servers crashed, hence the game still running but having the message ‘NO INTERNET CONNECTION’. It’s a server issue, because the servers went down. I don’t see how else I can explain this.
Interesting my client/game crashed but my friends in discord said I was still in game all game. Weird.
Very cool, it happened again. Another 20 elo drop.
At least 343 is keeping the quality of the servers consistent with the quality of the game.
It’s because issues like this are overshadowed by overstated copy paste NPC posts about progression, challenges and monetization.
These are the actual problems, and the players affected by them get buried down in favor of optional mechanics that can wait to be fixed.
This was a problem in MCC, people getting booted for whatever reason an then getting banned, even though they didn’t actually quit the match.
They get bug reports in their support site, not their forums.
