Version of Jetpack that wont Butcher Gameplay

Since 343 feels the need to reintroduce this awful AA, the least they can do is make it not essentially turn every map into a bubble like in Reach.

Mechanics :

  • 1 Use per charge, moderate recharge rate
  • Quick vertical movement (essentially a double jump)
  • slight hover effect after the initial boost to prevent fall damage

Satisfies the need to reach other areas of the map in a quicker and more unique matter (as well as in a matter with a skill gap), without giving the player instant map control at the push of a button.

Or they can just not put it back into the game. That would be cool too.

Sick of you MLG tryhards and your selfish wants /sarcasm

-Single use before having to recharge. Has a moderate recharge.
-Quick vertical leap: 1.5-2 times the regular jump height.
-Cannot be used midair.
-No hovering. If you can’t properly judge your leaps, you deserve to take fall damage.

I would much prefer it if you had to use it as a double jump, it would make it harder to master. A lot of players like to do trick jumps and such, so a double jump would seem a lot more fluid.

That works too. Essentially like the elites in campaign.

It’s a 1-ton supersoldier being lifed up off into the air twice his height by explosions. It should not feel fluid at all. The instant height advantage is enough. Keep the trick jumps for players who are able to do them, leave Jetpack for those that cannot.

Seems nobody can argue against either of the two suggestions made in the thread.

I’ve never seen this much ruckus stirred up against the Jetpack until now, is this a recent thing or am I blind? seemed the only Armor Ability that ever got -Yoink!- was AL.
I don’t like jetpack that much either, I think the double-jump idea is great.

You probably weren’t around in the Matchmaking forums when Jetpack was still in Arena.

Your asking for a jump pack, rather than a jet pack. and I would have to agree with you. If all it was was a fast, double-triple jump, it would be much more balanced. Even more so if you couldn’t use your weapon while in mid-jump.

I think Jetpacks should explode upon being shot.

> I think Jetpacks should explode upon being shot.

Nah, it should explode upon use.

Hell even better make it have a 50% chanes to explode per use. Random is Halo apparently.

The thing about jetpack is you could made yourself a very clear target for everybody in the map, and you couldn’t evade oncoming shots very well. If your complaining about other people having a jetpack get one yourself. Problem solved.

Jetpack should replace the grav lift from Halo 3. Should produce same general height, be full on or adjustable but still decreaase at the same rate and it should be on pickup only.

What if I don’t enjoy flying around like a fairy just so I can be of any use?

This would be so much fun, especially if youve ever played jump maps in reach.
