Version Mismatch

Games Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Desperate and confused I turn to the Halo Forums to discuss this, hopefully some of you are of use and this situation can be resolved with little effort. Hopefully.

I play Master Chief Collection on my PC, I downloaded through steam and play it that way.
My friend downloaded it through Windows Store, and play it that way.
We have both played around 200 games together, team doubles mostly.
As of 12/18/2019, everytime we connect to eachother I get:

"Version Mismatch: Please insure that everyone in the party is running on the same version."

Can anyone of you tell me what is going on?
Can anyone of you tell me how to resolve the issue?

We have verified the integrity of the cache, we have reinstalled the games, etc.

I look forward to seeing if people have similar issues, or if someone has resolve theirs.

EDIT: There is indeed an update for the game on the Microsoft Store, but it doesn’t show up in the update section like it should.
