Aloha, my friends.
Happy V-Day. :]
It’s been far too long. But I do hope you enjoy what we bring you today.
I am very proud to present to you today the work of Justin Butschi (also known as “The Sniper 9”), the man who has been working with me and the art assets created by Garrett Post and Levi Hoffmeier to create two important things:
1.) The Placeholder First-Person Arms
2.) The Placeholder Mark-4-clad SPARTAN-II character model for the player
There are two “skins” presently available for these assets, ALSO done by Justin:
1.) Standard-issue green, black, and gold
2.) Passively Camouflaged for the CryEngine 3 Free SDK Sample Level, “Forest”
We haven’t exactly nailed down which material settings (specular intensity, color, etc) are our favorites yet, but there’s a certain range within which pretty much anything makes us grin like a possum eating grapes.
We will soon be releasing these arms to the community for their use; they are currently only able to be used in the CryEngine 3 Free SDK as a replacement for the default first-person arms, and they currently only use the animations and weapons that the default first-person arms use.
I would love to type more, but I’m about to pass out at 5:30AM this fine Thursday morning, so I will have to update this post later tonight after sleep and work. More information will come shortly. So, without further ado… enjoy. :]
PS - In case you need reminding, Venerance is only possible due to the Microsoft Game Content Usage Rules, and we love Bungie and 343 and always play by the rules. EDIT: For some reason, IMGUR messed up the album and reduced the number of images from 13 to 4. That is very strange, because they were all there AFTER I had created the IMGUR album. Well, check out ALL of the images here: http://venerance.net/community/threads/valentines-day-2013-update.519/
