Vehicles to Full Strength

In all the Halo Trilogy vehicles have been tough and something to be reckoned with, it took heavy weapons such as Rocket Launcher and Spartan Laser to take down them. I enjoyed this as a vehicle based player as I could drive for some time and feel like what I was doing mattered.

The main problem in Reach, above AL and Bloom was that vehicles were nerfed to the point where they became practically useless. Whenever I entered a Warthog or even a Scorpion I felt that I was driving a ticking time bomb, yes I could get my teammate a Running Riot if nobody used the sniper or was bad with it, but when it came to a skilled sniper or even just an experienced player they could wreck my Warthog the second I got into it.

I’m asking that in Halo 4 we bring Warthogs, Banshees, Scorpions, Wraiths, whatever back to their full strength and make driving fun but more importantly mean something again.

I hold the opposite view to you. I enjoy sniping down a Banshee or shooting a player out of the Tank.

> I hold the opposite view to you. I enjoy sniping down a Banshee or shooting a player out of the Tank.

As you’re probably a sniper based player I accept that since Halo 4 will need to cater to you and every potential player as a whole. Reach itself though you’ve got to admit made sniping so easy that there was virtually no point in driving a vehicle. Scorpions would go down in a flash, and they shouldn’t, they should last some time as I personally think it takes more skill to get up and personal with a tank and board rather than just shooting the guy out of the cockpit.

My only question is, while I understand it’s Halo and all, why a futuristic military uses an open air, virtually non-protected, Car-like vehicle with a back mounted chain-gun as opposed to our military which have HUMVEE’s or even Jeep’s, that are not only full enclosed, but have bullet proof glass (which the Warthog doesnt), and even a gunner well for a gunner to still be in semi cover whilst firing a machine gun.

When I saw the turret in Reach, I loved it, the look, the feel, everything. I thought the warthog was gonna have a similar looking turret and that would have been sick in my mind.

But no, still the same chain gun (which, don’t get me wrong, I love it, but it doesn’t look futuristic.

And the Tank…shoot that a couple times with a flippin’ DMR at it’s treads or back area and you can take that thing out as if you were using armor-piercing/explosive rounds.

Over all, Reach’s vehicles to me didn’t have the power and luster that they used to have.

And I still don’t know why we have such open air vehicles like the Falcon and Warthog…or hell even the Mongoose (I can understand it’s reconnaissance and special operations purposes, but as a combat vehicle it just doesn’t seem right…

I personally enjoyed the Hornet more than the Falcon, but I would love to have the Falcon controls back. Also yes the DMR was another weapon I hated when driving my Warthog, since everyone spawns with in BTB, it just reduces your time alive.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved the Falcon much more than the Hornet as well. I just don’t see why it had to be so open-air.

As I am agreeing to your statement, I also disagree due to it’s consequenses.

My agreement concerns the fact that it’s much easier to get rid of the vehicles during the game. A sniper rifle should be enought to wreck a warthog and receive an overkill.

The disagreement concerns the fact that people’d be incredibly unbeatable with their vehicles, people would betray more if you for instance took the Scorpion before anybody else, and the first thing you do is of course killing the other scorpion. The one who first kills the other scorpion would dominate the map and get incredible kills, unless the scorpion was hit once…

So… I really have no idea, would be nice to slightly strenghtem and see for ourselves how it’d work out.

for game balance

I still want the strong vehicles to return but open vehicles give guys on foot a fighting chance

Well, I understand that as well.

But what I’m trying to get at here is the simple fact that, it’s 2558.

They have non-bullet proof windshields and open-air ground and air vehicles (anything below the pelican anyways)

Basically if we had a ground war with the UNSC right now, I mean us, our timeline, today, I think we would win just from superior vehicle design XDDDD.

Falcon vs. F-15]- I think we all know what would win that.

Scorpion vs. M1 Abrams (Scorpion probably due to speed, barrel turning radius and over all versatility on the battlefield)

But over all, our vehicles would just dominate due to some very simple design mechanics that our predecessors 546 years in the future didn’t employ. XDDDDDDD

I agree. Vehicles in Reach are far too vulnerable. Like you said, you know when you are in it that you can get a lot of kills but are essentially a ticking time bomb. You aren’t going to last. It’s frustrating when you are in a wraith or scorpian and you have 1 enemy that will constantly be shooting you with a DMR from very far away, and he can actually destroy or severely damage it! What’s that about?

Why DMRS are so strong against vehicles I don’t know. Grenades seem a bit strong about tanks as well.
