Vehicles in the classic playlists after the TU.

So if 343i is going to try and bring back that “classic” feel in reach I believe they should take a look at the vehicles as well.

Below you will see some of my thoughts on how to make the gameplay from a vehicle stand point closer to the original Halo: CE experience.

  • If we have a Blood Gulch CTF variant please only put the vehicles on the map that were in the original game. Vanilla Warthog, Ghost, and Scorpion (the scorpion is a little strong right now for this so maybe a tweak to that). Also, a variant with just one warthog on each team would be good too.

  • Make the vehicles indestructable and make it so wherever they are left they wont respawn (they stay where they last were left for the entire game or until someone else grabs it to use). In the original game vehicle control was more important (imo) than in the other games for 2 reasons.

  1. The vehicle wouldn’t get destroyed and left an opporutnity for the other team to capitalize on your mistake.
  2. The vehicle wouldn’t respawn if you left it out in the open, again leaving an opporutnity for the other team to capitalize on your mistake.
  • Boarding vehicles, i’m at a toss up on this one. On one hand the original game had no boarding. On the other hand boarding is a great way to stop a vehicle from being careless.

  • Plasma pistol EMP. Make the plasma pistol still take the shields of an enemy driver but do not allow it to turn off the engine anymore. The PP should be used for infantry not anti-infantry. A good team should be able to work together to take down an enemy driver.

Some things aren’t worth bringing back and indestructible vehicles are one of them.

Boarding should stay. However the vehicles are in need of a buff.

You can still kill the player in the vehicle, it just wouldn’t blow up. Just because the vehicle is indestructible doesn’t mean the driver is.

Have you tried the settings that we already have for indestructible vehicles?

I believe that it is an unpopular option for some reason due to it not functioning properly.

That isn’t true at all. The only reason I still play Halo 3 is because I hate it when my vehicle is killed by starting weapons/small arms fire.

You forgot that the Warthog turret should not overheat with constant use, just like all the other games.

A lot of people love the classic Ce (myself included) because it was simple to learn but hard to master. There was no mercy in that game, but if you were skilled at it then you were a one man army.
