One thing that Reach sorely lacked was vehicle gameplay in 4v4 and FFA matches. Granted I get it, vehicle gameplay is not exactly considered “competitive” but cutting vehicles out of multiplayer for the most part made gameplay stagnant in Reach.
Great maps like Standoff, Valhalla, Rats nest and even snowbound added a needed level of diversity to the online experience by giving players the option of using the mongoose ghost and warthog in smaller games.
Yeah, I mostly play regular team slayer playlist in Reach and there are never any maps with vehicles, and it kind of annoys me. I don’t want to have to play BTB just to drive a warthog. A warthog worked fine in plenty of 4 v 4 slayer matches in previous games, so long as there are plasma grenades to take it out with.

Yes. And for the competitive crowd there can always be a vehicle free MLG or ranked play list.
> Open, small maps were good, like snowbound or containment. as long as it’s only a ghost or something small, it’s a good addition.
I would never call Containment a small map. High Ground would be a better example, but vehicles just weren’t very useful on anything designed for 4v4. There’s just not enough room for you to get up to top speed so you’re an easy target while driving slower, and if you do get up to top speed you’ll find yourself running into a lot of walls.
They work on large maps b/c there are more players walking around you can splatter, and they’re more open allowing you to traverse those maps much easier.

Exactly, this doesn’t have to be vehicles on small maps, it could mean larger maps on smaller games. Valhalla worked fine for 4v4 but in Reach all you play in normal team slayer is the smallest maps. And besides that, there is no reason there couldn’t be more maps with mogooses (mongeese?) They don’t affect gameplay to much but can help if you spawn far from the battle.

I would have to disagree on this with you… You just had to drive in the right areas. I have over 400 splatters on that map alone (if you add my two accounts together)… I hardly played on that map.
