Okay so I recently went online and did some research about halo 5. Now unfortunately I could not get my hands on the beta but from what I have seen the combat is fast paced and heavily skill oriented. Which brings up the question, what about vehicles? Now back on reach I graduated for being a Spartan I, then moved on Demolitions expert. Halos heavy weapons have gotten a bit “Lighter” in terms of being a Heavy weapon. A heavy turret should be able to mow down someone easily, not get destroyed by a BR. The heavy weapons need to show their full power again and halo 5 has that chance. How you ask? Vehicles. Vehicles were always fun to use and don’t get me wrong I loved the Mantis, Saw and Railgun, but other than that there was not much vehicle combat. Remember the days when taking down a Scorpion was like taking on an army and the satisfaction it brought? Now Scorpions in Halo 4 are made out of paper, single Plasma grenade Boom entire team dead (No joke).
Enough ranting and raving lets get to the good stuff. As we know there is a much more complex combat system in this halo then ever before. Being able to get extreme height and speed in second whilst risking your life is new and welcome to the franchise, which got me thinking…
In the Beta there was one map I studied in particular. Empire/Eden and I quickly noticed how the map looked as if something could fit in the ceiling. What you ask? The VTOL. If my theory is correct I reckon we could see the VTOL in future halo games besides “Spartan Strike” having a vehicle that is focused on air dominance vs infantry dominance could be an amazing experience. Having all these routes that spartans could take in order to hijack this vehicle could either result in a “King of the hill” style vehicle where everyone is trying to grab it or a vehicle which focus’s on being dominant of infantry rather than being able to protect itself from other vehicles.
This would be something new and is not seen often, especially in halo and it could work. Only one other vehicle was like this and that was the falcon and even that was super fun to use especially when you had good team communication. (Still is fun.)
