Vehicles Are Now Pointless

Vehicles are now pointless because every random noob in the game can get a random “power weapon” via ordinance! And, on top of that, you can spawn with plasma grenades AND plasma pistols! What has this game come to!? And with the instant respawn, map control is nearly unobtainable! And we don’t even have the option to disable most of these features in custom games!

Sorry, end of rant.

So… Dang… Frustrating…

Edit: Here is a really good thread explaining some of the technicalities of vehicle health.

I agree, the only vehicle that I have seen to be really effective consistantly is the gauss hog on exile. It is hard to hit it due to the map layout.

I think vehicles are perfect. You cant just run off by yourself and expect to get mad kills like in the past. You have to stay with your team and move in a group. Have a sniper cover you or even a foot soldier to stop borders.

I think you need to look at those custom game options again. You can disable and alter ALL of those things you’re complaining about.

Vehicles have been a bit underpowered since Halo:Reach, but now it’s even worse. The Scorpion, Mantis, and Wraith can still kick some -Yoink-, but the lighter vehicles, especially the standard Warthog, are next to useless.

The problem isn’t just Ordnance, it’s also the fact that you can now destroy a Warthog with only a DMR or a Sniper Rifle. The Spartan Laser and Rocker Launcher have become almost completely redundant as vehicle-killers as well.

There is a simple trick in Custom Games that you can use to enhance vehicles, however. I’d actually love to see this implemented in matchmaking:

The trick is to set player Weapon Damage and Melee Damage to 50%, and also set player Damage Resistance to 50%. The result? Players take the same amount of damage as normal when on foot, but vehicles can take nearly twice as much punishment. Almost exactly like Halo 3, in fact…

Agreed i think plasma pistols and plasma grenades should be disabled and should spawn on the map for gametypes or maps designed around the use of vehicles.

Even if you do increase respawn time, you can still press X to respawn.

Yeah, there probably is a way to change the settings on a lot of things, but their so dang hard to find in the menus… >_<

That’s why you leave the vehicles to the skilled drivers. I have never had any trouble with vehicles.

Reach had very easy to navigate, and convenient menus. Halo 4 has to be the most confusing and undesirable game I have ever played. It’s sad really… Halo has always been the only game I ever really enjoyed because it was different from other games…

The vehicles are fine. They just aren’t ridiculous death machines like they were in vanilla Halo 3.

Totally agree. I’ve seen people dominate with even the reg warthog because they actually knew how to do it. Stop charging into combat like your untouchable and maybe you won’t die so fast.

I think that vehicles are fine the way they are. No longer can one person dominate the whole team because they hoped in a vehicle. Now you need the whole team to support the Scorpion or Wraith, guess what just like you would have to do in real life. Adjust your play style to the game, don’t except a game to asjust to you.

Oh I don’t have a problem with dying in a vehicle… I just can’t go anywhere because I’m constantly under fire from the DMR, and every corner I go around there is someone with a power weapon waiting for me.

The DMR is more of a problem that the over-population of power weapons.

The hogs both need a major health boost, the banshee needs regenerating shields like the mantis, you should be able to steal the tank when you board it if you melee instead of planting a grenade, and you shouldn’t get stunned when you get your ghost or banshee jacked. After becoming EMP’d, your vehicle should be immune to futher EMPs for a few seconds.

Power weapons and vehicle jackings should be the primary means towards removing a vehicle from the battlefield, not pew pewing with a dmr or spamming plasma pistol overcharges.

Your reasoning is stupid and your attitude is terrible. How are people able to get ‘skilled’ using vehicles, without practising?
Go and wind your neck back in.

Once again we see someone not happy because they can no longer dominate a map with a weapon / vehicle.

Sorry Buttercup, but the days of you jumping in a banshee and getting 15 splatters while talking -Yoink- is over, and I say good. Back in the day any noob could jump in a vehicle and dominate a map. Stop complaining, use some actual tactics that involve some method of thought and just play the game. If that is too difficult you can just not play the mp, and stop whining about it.

Custom games? Campaign? Spartan Ops?

Or, the good old fashioned solution, keep dying until you learn how to not die.

I have been playing Halo. I’m used to playing Halo. This game is what is changing. I’m still learning,
.

Or they could just not use vehicles. Get their rifle skills up and contribute that way. I hate when i see someone get into a vehicle and go “Leroy Jenkins” it and watch them respond next to me seconds later.

I hate the Mantis, but otherwise I think the vehicles are fine.

In the past (excluding Halo CE where you could topple vehicles over with well placed grenades), vehicles were godmode unless you found a power weapon.

Sure, power weapons spawn all the time now, but they usually aren’t TRUE power weapons like the rocket launcher or incineration cannon. Usually it’s a shotgun or a needler. You aren’t going to kill a banshee with a needler.
