Vehicles are absolutely worthless.

I thought they were weak in Reach but that was before playing this game. Spawning with a Plasma Pistol and 2 plasma grenades makes map movement impossible. Engaging any foot soldier becomes a pain in the rear when 90% of the time they’ll stall you and send you soaring with 2 stickies on your face. Not only that but a single DMR will tare you up with very little effort.

Even the slow but powerful Scorpions and Wraiths can easily be gimped with a Plasma Pistol overcharge to the point that even a tank can’t defend itself anymore. The pilot’s only option is to slowly exit and is most of the time guaranteed a death.

If you somehow manage do kill your target by dodging both the plasma bolts and the hail of stickies, they’ll be rewarded with a full Plasma Pistol and 2 brand new plasma grenades with your name of them.

All of this isn’t even taking into consideration the ridiculous amount of power weapons being given out by the infinity drops.

It has come to a point where warthog are only used for transport and even that is risky.

So, what’d your opinion on vehicular combat in Halo 4?

I disagree.

I don’t hesitate to jump in a warthog, ghost, or anything.

Especially now that I leveled out operator and got the wheelman perk.

You have to drive well, the vehicles aren’t invincible, but they can be a forced to be reckoned with. You have to use them well.

I don’t have a problem with the Plasma Pistol, but I think they should do to do to Plasma Grenades what they did with the Pulse Grenades; have one for each loadout, two for Grenadier.

Just this simple adjustment can make a big difference. Especially when it comes to Vehicles.

Doesn’t matter how hard you try to avoid getting close to people or how good you are at driving, they’re just a sprint away from planting a grenade on your tire.

I’m a careful driver, given my gunners plenty of Perfections and high killing sprees in the past, but it’s all been ruined by the careless addition of these grenades into our starting loadouts.

I never played reach so I can only compare to H3. I think they are more balanced and serve their purpose as support units now, instead of dominating the game (with exception of the Gauss warthog on some occasions). Warthogs and Ghosts can still be extremely useful, just don’t expect to be boosting around forever catching splatter after splatter left and right, or continually circling the map in your hog while spawnkilling everything (remember some games on Standoff).

@nijt
Pretty much what he said.

The UNSC got buget cuts and had to make their vehicles of cardboard.

But I do agree vehicles are so easily killed in this game.

I used to be scared yoinkless of ghosts.

Now I can shoot them with a BR and everything’s dandy.

EDIT: There is also little point to using a Banshee, because you’ll get dropped like a fly in a matter of seconds easily.

I think vehicles work perfectly fine as they are now. Their current design encourges something Halo has been lacking in for a very long time… teamwork.

You want that beast of a Scorpion to say alive? Then keep people away from it and kill them when they try to jack it.

The same goes for every other vehicle. If you want it to live, protect it. I’ve gone an entire game on Exile in a Scorpion because my teammates helped protect me. I had a gunner and some teammates on my flanks to catch sneaky plasma pistol kids.

TL:DR Teamwork makes the world go 'round.

(Also, Vehicles are stronger now than they were in Reach. You could easily destroy a Warthog in about 10-15 seconds of DMR fire from multiple people)

Wheel Man Perk helps a little. Personally I believe they should have some larger maps with more open lanes and landscape to maneuver in. Also I believe in total re-designs of the vehicles are in order. I’ve been driving the Scorpion since 2001 and it’s still as slow as ever. I want something faster, powerful, and more agile to offset all these upgrades going to the infantry.

The vehicles are still stuck in 2007, where everything else is now 2012.

Are you kidding, Op? I freaking received over 10 kills in Exile by just holding down LS and LT in my trusty Ghost.

> I don’t think they are useless, they’re just harder to use, which is good.
> In previous Halos, you could easily just go on a rampage in a banshee, etc. Now you can easily get taken out by a couple people with DMRs. Maybe they do need a slight buff, vehicles should be better than infantry sooo.

Are you kidding? I got another +10 kills with an already-damaged Banshee on a separate game of Exile!

I don’t think they are useless, they’re just harder to use, which is good.

I agree.

How has the tank been in every other Halo? Every player on the map rushes it at the start, and the one person who gets it is rewarded with a crazy amount of kills. This is how the game has always been!

Let me tall you what happened to me today. I got into the tank on Exile, within seconds I was hit by a plasma pistol from across the map. As the enemy closed in on me, I had to wait about 10 seconds to come back online. Right when I came online, he shot me again, still closing in. He repeated this, until I jumped out and he killed me, taking the tank for himself.

I then repeated the process against him.

That is the problem with vehicles, not only can I be destroyed by DMRs while in a Banshee, but infantry with Plasma Pistols can kill me from half way across the map. If they decreased the EMP time, I would be good, if they strengthened vehicles a little, I would be good.

This isn’t that big of an issue, but it would make Halo 4 that much better.

The only problem I have is that the Ghost is way too weak. It shoots well and splatters well, but once it gets shot up multiple times, it’s gone. In fact, it only takes an entire DMR magazine to destroy it!

The Ghost is one of my favorite vehicles and I hate to see it so underpowered.

Well thought out response, would read again.
