Most of us have seen the list of current know Specializations that we can equip for our Spartans which is very reminiscent of Battlefields Specializations, but in a good way.
Given what we do know, do you think there will be any for Vehicles?
For example AA Efficiently allows you to use less energy when they are in use. This could be applied to vehicles with Boost capabilities for longer boost times or even faster Boost speeds. Another one might be no over-heat for turrets, shorter cool down, or slightly more armor for all vehicles, or enhanced radar.
I think this could be very cool for players who love to get behind the wheel and doesn’t lend towards making vehicles more powerful, but rather giving players a enhancement while driving.
It’s possible, but unlikely. There are several factors that indicate vehicle specializations wouldn’t be too useful:
-
Vehicles usually only pop up on BTB maps. Unless you play BTB 100% of the time, a lot of matches you play will be wasting one specialization slot.
-
Vehicles are very different from each other. Only some vehicles have boost. Others can fly, or are tanks, or whatever. In BF3 specializations are very broadly grouped to be applicable to all vehicles. That’s more difficult in Halo because vehicles fit more strictly defined niche areas. Imagine picking a specialization affecting boost only to find out the map doesn’t have Covenant vehicles. Or a specialization affecting vertical acceleration, except the map doesn’t have air vehicles. 343 could of course group the vehicle specializations very broadly, but then they would become OP.
-
Vehicle specializations will affect gameplay negatively - rendering it imbalanced. There are only several vehicles on a map at any one time. So people that dislike vehicles have a useless specialization slot. It’ll worsen the problem of one team hogging the other team’s vehicles, by giving whatever team has more vehicles absolute dominance. Vehicle hogging will basically become much worse.
