Through launch till now I have come to the conclusion that the vehicle gravity is too low. The friction is fine, the impulses and momentum seems fine, but it’s like driving a warthog on the moon. I don’t know how easy it would be to change the in-game physics, but my only complaint about halo 5 is vehicles having next to NO GRAVITY.
Bounciness of vehicles has been noted throughout the forum, but most agree. I tend to just hate the mongoose/gungoose handling…
I love the vehicle handling. It feels very similar to Halo CE’s vehicle physics. It’s one of the few things I can praise Halo 5 for.
It’s funny when an all-terrain hits a small rock, and goes spinning to a cyclone of death.
It is abysmal.
I was driving a mongoose on Apex 7 back to base, and one of my rear wheels clipped a tiny rock mid air. My mongoose proceeded to do a 720 degree spin almost on the spot. I too agree that the Warthogs and Mongeese are too bouncy.
The tank handling is atrocious and even worse than in previous games. Ghosts, especially the ultra seems to be top heavy and flips over at the slightest tilt. Vehicles also seem to get stuck much easier. Multiple times I tried to splatter someone and ended up hitting some rocks like the cliff walls of Apex 7. Your vehicle gets stuck and the only way to free it is to get out of it.
Speaking of splattering, the physics make no sense at all in this game. One time I jumped onto a Scorpion not even moving at top speed and got splattered by the cannon. I thought it would be an easy board but turned out to be nothing but ragrets.

See, I honestly think it resembles H2A’s multiplayer than Halo CE’s physics. Maybe I have nostalgia glasses on, but the physics in CE, while not as good as in Halo 3, are, in my opinion, miles better than what’s in Halo 5.

I have been launched in the air so many times in a gungoose and hog…by rocks that I’m pretty sure even Halsey could crush in her one good hand… So frustrating. It is like when you catch a rock with your skateboard. You go from having fun and being awesome to face plant in less than a second…
The e-brake was changed too. I’ll try to drift a corner, and wind up spinning around/doing a donut. The vehicle controls are a little wonky, IMO. I had a Warthog spawned out of home base in Apex. I went to turn the corner to follow the path to the Armory, and my Warthog did like 7 complete rolls! I wasn’t even at top speed. Definitely needs some adjusting.

JPNDTS. That Warthog just love tumblin’.

Halo CE physics are good, but Halo 3’s feel better and more manageable.

I always felt that the vehicles in H2 and H3 felt too rigid. I didn’t play enough H2A with vehicles. I honestly can’t even remember how the vehicles felt in that. I loved the smooth feel and the bounce the vehicles had in CE.
I think collision sensitivity with ghosts are ridiculous and losing shields by bumping into objects at the lowest speeds is stupid.

Yeah, CE’s physics feel good, but they’re not great. This probably has more to with the game being made in 2001 and the only other game at the time with a decent physics engine was probably Half-Life. I’m generalizing, of course, there were probably more games with physic engines, but Half-Life is the first game to come to mind.

H3H3, oh you tease.
